I have a 7730 mifi, unlimited grandfather dataplan....it is active and works but I want to try the new 8800l
I purchased an 8800l from ebay, it works. I popped in my sim from my active 7730 into the 8800 and it works. They speed
very very very slow compared to the 7730.
The 8800 is now randomly rebooting like everyones elses so i try to download the new software on the 8800l and it keeps rejecting saying that an error as occured. It is the old outdate 1Q software
how can I force this 8800 to update
the 8800 does work with the sim from the 7730 but its is just so much slower

It does not look like VZW has provided a software installation process for this model. You will need to bring the device into a VZW store. The other option is to work with a support rep on replacing it with a version of 8800L with the current firmware already installed.
Firmware related problems generally are supported even when the device is not. It is worth a call/chat/visit with a VZW rep to see what the options are before you consider replacing the device.

Firmware update steps are here:
https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/verizon-jetpack-mifi-8800l-update/
This suggests the firmware update is only OTA (over the air).
