Working through the initial setup. this is the new one, not the samsung. no blue lights. The initiation is hanging up on getting a certificate from the CMP Server. I talked to VZ Wireless and they said it's all fine and activated on their end. Want me to talk to VZ Fios people to see if on their end. I've restarted and factory reset a bunch of times already. Has GPS no problem. Any suggestions are appreciated.

We certainly want your Network Extender to work properly for you. I am sorry for any inconvenience. Were you able to contact FIOS? If so, what did they say?

Exact same error. What is the cause?

I don't know the cause and I have never gotten a solution from Verizon Wireless or from Verizon Fios (my ISP). I gave up long ago and disconnected my extender. I did see a product review posted on the VZ website by someone experiencing the same issue. It had a detailed technical description of the configurations tried by a different ISP to fix it but without success. Good luck and if you find a solution, please post it.

Great question, we want to make sure this is properly resolved, do you have any ports blocked on through your internet provider?

Hello PrinceAnton. We know the importance of ensuring your Network Extender is working as it should be. Error 5A typically indicates the Network Extender is not able to communicate with your Internet Service Provider. Have you contacted your ISP to ensure you have the correct Ports set up?

Does anyone know what ports have to be setup? All I can find is non-specific setup your ports.. What ports need to be setup for this stupid thing to work? Does port forwarding have to be on?
Been on hold with support for over an hour now and still stuck at 5a error.

ok, never mind found the ports. more importantly I tried forwarding the extender through IP passthrough, didn't work.

I purchased LTE network extender yesterday and as it appears is the case with numerous people before me, cannot overcome "server error 5a". I have spectrum internet with Google mesh wifi router and neither trouble shooting the router or talking to spectrum have been helpful. Why are there not discrete steps to solve this other than "reboot everything, talk to your ISP" ??

It really feels like Verizon has no respect for our time when there is no set up manual or trouble shooting information. Your post has been the most helpful
1hr 32 min on hold so far.... not the first time today.

Brashville, we certainly want you to have a smooth activation process.
The error 5A means: The LTE Network Extender has failed to get certificate from the CMP server, please check the LAN/firewall settings, or contact
your network administrator. This would be your internet provider.

Thank you, We have tried with two different routers, followed all of the Verizon directions, and added all of the ports to the router firewall.
Can you tell us the specific port that it uses to access the certificate from the CMP server?
That would help when we talk with spectrum.

I am so sorry to hear that you are having difficulties setting up your Network Extender. Basedon the information we show you will need to open up the ports for 52428 / 20906 or 123. AlbertoR_VZW

I have a CMP server error on my brand new Verizon Wireless LTE extender. I have checked with Comcast and nothing is wrong on their end. I am really frustrated and will need to drop Verizon wireless because it doesn’t work in my house and I work from home.
