Sudden unaccountable data usage at end of billing cycle

At the end of last billing cycle I received a text msg that I had only about 3G left.  13 min later I record another msg. that I had exceeded my limit of 24 G.  At the time I was reading news on my laptop.  All the charges were thru the jetpack I was using.   Over 3G in 13 min.  How can you protect yourself from these kind of charges?  I spent about an hour with your rep. going back and forth with typed messages and he agreed that it didn't make sense to him either,  Still got charged though.

The best thing you can do for yourself is setup and configure various data usage monitors on your devices.  Or if you have the interest you can setup a central device and configure a data usage utility on that instead. Then funnel all your network traffic through that device so you can see what is going into the Jetpack or not.

Verizon will not assist you with troubleshooting what the data usage is or from which device.  You need to setup data monitors to expose that information on your own.  Once you have that information in your hands you can start to observe and change your behaviors so that the Verizon billing cycle is no longer a surprise.

Jamwil20, making sure that you have more than enough data all month is significant. The reporting of data usage can be delayed at times. You can always monitor your data usage by logging onto My Verizon, using the My Verizon App, or by dialing #DATA from your Verizon Wireless device. Did you end up getting charged for data overage for the month? Have you gone over your data usage in the past?
