I have a 'grandfathered' Pre-Paid data plan and currently use a 7730L hotspot. It has been very reliable but I'd like to plan ahead for the day it breaks.
Can I simply buy a new hotspot (on eBay) and put the old SIM in it, or something more I have to do (like register the new hotspot). What if the SIM get's corrupted, will Verizon be able and willing to give me a new SIM?
I'm a little worried because Verizon no longer offers this 'grandfathered' plan and I really don't want to lose it.

Sounds like you have a reliable connection, and we want to do what we can to keep that. In most instances, the SIM Card can be moved, however, there is a chance that it will no longer work again. In that case, you will likely need to use a new plan, with a new card.

That doesn't sound like good Verizon support. Why a new 'plan'? Doesn't make sense to get a new plan only because of a hardware replacement.
