Sorry if this has been answered already.

Anyone know when 1.9 is supposed to be rolled out to the Long Island, NY  (franklin square) area?

Thanks

Couple days to go until the next markets get upgraded (pending operational readiness looking good today, which I had all indications on Friday that we would be good to go).

Good to hear that it's starting up again. I'm in VH08, so if what I hear is accurate, we're about 3 weeks out (or so). If you need to re-run a slow rollout in VH08, just let me know  - I'd be happy to take the upgrade early. 🙂

I can tell you folks this much. It usually takes some REALLY crappy service before I will ever take time to "complain" or voice my displeasure, either in person or via forum. What do you think it means that you are now reading this? Fios TV, in my opinion, is destroying what VERY LITTLE good reputation Verizon may have had, courtesy of the "can you hear me now" portion of their business. I was told I would have the version 1.9 IMG software when my install happened months ago, as I told them I WOULD NOT go through with the install otherwise. I bet y'all are smart enough to tell I still don't have it, and Verzons mouthpiece only pops up in these forums every 20 posts or so with some really cleverly worded statement designed to placate the other people so fed up they are on here complaining about it. Well, my patience is just about to it's limit. Time Warner has triple play, too, and Internet speeds up to 50Mbps, which is faster than what I now have. And I bet they have DVR's with the capability to add external hard drives too. So, Verizon, when's the next {word filter avoidance} statement going to come from you about how it's only days away? You know, since it was only days away weeks and weeks ago? What clever posting are you going to put up to placate us just a little longer? Thank God I didn't sign a contract and went the month to month route.

I agree with your facts and sentiment. I was PROMISED months ago that the ability to use a DVR extender was being rolled out even as I was getting installed. The fall television season is upon us and still no IMG 1.9. I had Cox and was able to use the extender for two years before switching to Fios. I will say I love the quality of the picture and broadband service, but I am baffled by VZ's inability to roll out firmware more quickly. It's not guys on poles or digging trenches...please just push the button and push 1.9 out to the Washington DC area. You would think with all the Congressmen and congressional staff using FIOS that Verizon would have put this area at the top of its list!

Boy! Do I agree!

I hope that I don't have that much time to go before I get to retire....

With the strike and the hurricane getting more distant in our rear view mirror hoping to be done with all the boxes before Thanksgiving.

Going west shortly after the holiday week... then back east again a few weeks later.

Got to also agree with nascar and Joe_Ambeault on this one on.    Customer feedback is what makes a product even better.  Verizon did and was listening:  "the iterations with customers has made 1.9 much better than it would have been otherwise."

Joe, you got me excited when you told me that I'd get to use my eSATA drive before Halloween in Whittier, CA. And then my menu screen told me it was coming, I even got an email with more details... But alas, no 1.9!

My question is, what should I do to make sure my STB is ready to make your acquaintance, soon? Should I make sure there are no overnight DVR recordings scheduled? Should I leave it on and active or turn it to stand by? Should I randomly hard reboot the device so it goes an checks out if there are any upgrades to grab?

Let me know,
Jimmy

Nothing to do...

Cali is next on the hit parade.  I usually don't promise dates, but if I did I should be golden for you and your fellow west coasters.

I asked this same question a while back but got no response.  I guess we're far off and possibly on the bottom of the crop.

Don't know if Joe will respond.   But in general you should avoid having a the box active, expecially recording when the update is occuring.  But don't go crazy about it.  The update will pretty much go to your box when its pushed out, and require a reboot.  The reboot should occur automatically.  Sometimes when you see the update completed, but things don't seem totally well, it helps to do a hard reboot.

That would be nice.  I added a new Bathroom to my home since the original 1.9 announcement.  Will be starting a Family room next.  Gee I wonder which will come 1st, the 1.9 update or the room?

Slow spin was done to California and Texas before the strike which means a small number of users got it.  The rest of California and Texas were suppose to get it when the strike intervened.

We are all hoping to hear that they are ready to roll again, preferably in our area.

Almost certainly not now! My guess is that Verizon has to get themselves ramped back up, people back in place, network setup redone or at re-verified, etc. Then they will pick a DAC to start with (they already may have done that), and start up. Since you don't have your location in your profile, I don't have even a guess when you might get it. But it is going to take a couple of months I think to finish the rollout.

All just my guess of course.

I don't even know which DAC I'm in (I live in White Plains, NY). How do I find out? Any idea when we'll get IMG 1.9 here?

How are we going to learn when we are scheduled to receive 1.9?  Will there be a message on the message center on the TV regarding the update?

Will the update come during the middle of the night?  When the update is being downloaded and installed can we still use the STB?

In VHO8 there was an email sent informing us of the coming of the new guide in addition to the notice at the top of the menu.  Received the email the week before the the update is supposed to happen (this week according to "guesstimates").

I'm in Dallas and I'm dying for the long awaited 1.9 IMG, I don't understand why the Strike in the East is affecting us here with the rollout.  Has anyone heard anything?
