Since the previous thread on 1.9 is now locked, I thought I started a new one to discusss any technical issues with 1.9a. Various people in the the same DCA that had previously gotten 1.9 have said they 1.9a arrived overnight or sometime today.

The question is now, has the roll out of 1.9a actually started?
I've already got my eSATA drive ready and waiting.

I hope this rollout is for real... Knowing how Verizon performed rollout of 1.9 in April and May , it's not out of question that once again it could be long and painful proccess. Does anybody have information of rollout schedule by VHO? I am on VHO-6, MA
Thanks

Rolled out to Albany, Buffalo,Harrisburg, and Syracuse. (DAC 13?). People in Florida and Pittsburg (dac 7?) are reporting getting messages about it coming. One person in Florida says he was told July 6.

I'm in FL. When I press the menu button, there's a note at the very top of the screen that says it's almost here... a new FIOS is coming or something along those lines. No other info listed. I understand that FL is probably next, so I will post if/when we get it. Looking forward to it!

So you do get some sort of a notice that it's about to happen? I'm in the DC suburbs in MD. I haven't seen anything, but it's good to know what to look for. It would be better to have an idea what the roll out is.

The only notice was at the top of the screen when pressing the menu button. And it's very generic. No mention of what new FIOS is coming or when. It's not a message that can be clicked on and it's not listed in the messages section. It looks like a small ad at the very top. I'm just assuming it has to do with 1.9a. I first noticed it on Friday, but I'm not sure how long it's been there since I don't go to the menu very often.

Some in Pittsburgh reported getting 1.9a. How about you in Florida?

I received it here this morning in Tampa. I heard my SD box click off early in the morning, then I saw it when it clicked back on. Watched it for a few mins around 430am. But then my SD box clicked again and it has an error and won't turn on. Just checked my HD DVR in the living room and it doesn't have 1.9. Not sure if they were trying to pull it back or what. Will have to call. Anyway, it looks like Tampa is a go.

The update didn't go well in Pittsburgh and Tampa. Every box in those areas are being rolled back to 1.8.

Big bummer. I was excited to see it early this morning for a few mins. There's another thread on the technical forum indicating that there is now a widespread outage in Pittsburgh and Tampa this morning. Others are getting the same error message I'm seeing on my SD box. Guess I'm lucky my HD box is working. Some are saying that they're being told service would be restored in 24 to 48 hours. Who knows.

The Verizon tech made it sound like they were going to try to fix whatever happened in the release this morning and try to push 1.9 to the SD boxes again. Will post here if/when we get the fix and whether they gave us 1.9 or went back to 1.8 on the SD.

At about 3 PM my service was finally restored and 1.9 was running on my SD boxes in the Pittsburgh area. I'm really not sure what I think of it so far.

My FiOS box updated at around 3:02 PM today. I now just have a black screen (no video), but I can hear the audio. I called tech support and the automated message said that there was an "outage" in parts of Florida and Pennsylvannia and service would be restored by 4:00 PM. I am guessing that means being reverted back to IMG 1.8.

Just received 1.9 on both SD and HD boxes here in Tampa. They loaded the HD box at 330pm. Looks beautiful on the HD, but terrible on the SD TV. Will play around with the new IMG tonight.
@kerplunk, my SD box did the same thing, then started working as I changed channels, but still ran into a few problems. So I rebooted the box and it's fine now running with 1.9.

Probably was still loading. It will come back up once the box is fully loaded. Also the channel change suggestion is a good one. Try that as well. If no button presses respond it is still loading and give it more time.kerplunk wrote:
