I am planning to use an E-SIM for data on an upcoming trip and use my Verizon SIM in Airplane Mode on wifi to check texts and make calls. I have a Samsung S21 that only allows you to pick either the Verizon or E-SIM for all calls/texts and data, no splitting. The problem is I need to turn on the Verizon SIM to make a call or check for texts and can't do that once I go to Airplane mode...it needs to be beforehand.
Will this solve it, being in E-Sim mode for data only, then wanting to make a wifi call without Travel Pass charge?
....Shut off Mobile Data (under Data Usage) and Data Roaming Access (under Mobile Networks), then turn on Verizon SIM and make it primary SIM, then turn on Airplane Mode. To go back to eSIM, shut off Airplane Mode, turn off Verizon SIM (which will make E-SIM primary), then turn back on mobile data and data roaming.
I'm thinking it should work, but fear if there are messages in queue in the nanosecond after turning on the Verizon SIM before I go to Airplane Mode, the charge will hit. Several in our group have this need, so charges would add up.
Thank you!

These are definitely great questions. If you are not using a Verizon Wireless SIM Card or E-SIM will definitely help you avoid charges. Also, disabling roaming will allow you to avoid the device from connecting to a foreign network while using a Verizon Wireless SIM Card or E-SIM. ~Geo
