Travel Pass

My granddaughter is on my Verizon account and her plan includes 1 day with Travel Pass per month.  She has accumulated 13 days.  She is going on a school trip to Belize for 10 days at the end of this month.  Do we have to do anything to activate these days prior to her trip?  How does that work exactly?
