My Iphone 11 will be traveling to Paris and Belgium soon.  I expect to be in WIFI areas most of the time but  dont want to incurr data/ cellular charges . If I switch to airplane mode the entire time I am there, will that prevent me from connecting to the local networks but still allow calls/texts/emails when I am in WIFI areas?  I still want to be able to use the phone, but can live with it only working in WFI areas.

Thanks for any advice !

Hi Bobo, we hope you have a safe trip. Yes, having airplane mode on is the best way to avoid international charges. That being said, for text you will only be able to use iMessage over Wi-Fi unless you have a third party app and Wi-Fi calling need sot be active on your account. https://www.verizon.com/plans/international/international-travel/trip-planner-tool/
