Trick to receive texts when outside US without travelpass??

I can't figure out a trick to read and send texts outside the US with my number when traveling(without paying for the ridiculous travel pass)using a samsung galaxy. There has to be a way. I tried the Verizon web page, but that made me log in again when I was out of country and Vz doesn't let me log in without receiving a text(no option to email code or answer security questions) So I'm locked out of my Vz account when traveling unless I pay for texts. So I tried the Google messages website, synced it at home, but it stopped syncing when I was outside the US (?!?) I have a Google voice number but I need to receive and send texts from my Verizon number.  I only use eSims when traveling and forward my calls to family but I can't figure out how to deal with texting without paying $10/day. I saw text forwarding apps but they all seem like junk. What's the trick?

We are here to help with any questions you may have regarding getting access to your account while abroad. If you are unable to receive texts then it may not be possible to access your account. What is the reason you want to access your account?  ~Peter

I want to make sure I'm providing you with the correct information you'll need for those texts. The most reliable way to send and receive texts with your Verizon number is to use one of our international services. We're sorry for the inconvenience, and we wish you safe travels. You can find more information about our international plans here: https://www.verizon.com/plans/international/international-travel/trip-planner-tool/
