7 Days on Carnival Magic Caribbean Cruse - Best Options?

• I am going on a 7 day cruise with Carnival Magic from May 27th thru Jun 3rd.
• I don't plan to use my Samsung Edge phone for talking and only see myself using texts and wifi very little if at all.
• My Mom is also going on the trip with me and we share the Verizon wireless plan.  She has an iPhone 6.
• What is my best option during this trip?  Should i sign up for a special international trip option or leave my plan as is and get charged for what little usage I make?
• Is using the Cruise Lines wifi going to charge my plan extra or will I just be charged a flat rate for their wifi services fee?
• Can someone give me a breakdown of my options?  I don't want to pay extra for a verizon wireless add on if my limited utilization doesn't make it worth my while.
