Calling the UK while in the UK
mshaver
Member

I will be travelling to the UK in a couple weeks and taking my Verizon mobile with the TravelPass International Plan.

The International Travel FAQ explains how to call the US from overseas, but I am not clear on how to call or text a friend in the UK while in the UK.

For example, if they provided me the following mobile number: [removed]. Do I simply call the number as is? Do I add a + to the beginning? Do I first dial +44?

Maybe this old thread will help: Dailing UK from a US cell while in the UK , appears that you'd be dialing as if you were in the US, e.g. +44...

Thanks for the reply. I saw that post, but was a little concerned about it being 4 years old. Wanted to be sure that the information is current.

Yes, this is correct info....

It is looked it as a U.S. phone number but is still on a U.K. network so will require dialing a "+" sign then country code (44) then local Number with area code.

Also, some phones do have assisted dialing that "pre-inserts" the international dialing "+" and country code so if all else fails, turn this off in the phone settings and then dial manually.....

Dial "+" then the country code(England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland = 44, Ireland = 353) then the local number with area code(if applicable).

jav6, we certainly appreciate you being a part of the Verizon Community. You are absolutely correct here. You would be dialing as if you were in the US with "+44". Please let us know if you need anything further. We are always happy to help.

@NicoleT_VZW, you should be responding to the OP mshaver instead of me.  I was just providing a response.
