International Plan in Costa Rica? CDMA vs GSM

If I add the International service plan ($25 or $40) will my phones work in Costa Rica?

I have a Nexus 6P and a Samsung Galaxy S5.  My concern is Verizon is CDMA and Costa Rica is GSM...  does that matter, or will I be able to use the Costa Rica system since my phones have the ability to work on either network?

Also, what APN settings will I have to change on the phones (if any)?  Thank you

Costa Rica sounds nice this time of year, mmessier2. Let's make sure to get your cellular communication set up before you leave.  In review, of our trip planner: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/tripplanner/tripplannercontroller , you’ve got the right phones for the endeavor.  Now it’s just a matter of picking out the best plan that will suit your needs. While the $25 plan is great for 100 MB of data, it causes calls to be pay as you go at the rate of $1.79 per minute and texts to be 50¢ send/ 5¢ receive.  The $40 package allows for both 100 minutes and 100 texts to keep you in touch on the go.

No changes to the APN required.

For the most part, 4G devices are unlocked for global travel as long as your settings are correct.  If you want to check out specific devices, you can input your information here: International Trip Planner

Thank you.  I added the $40 plan to my account.

How do I make calls from Costa Rica to the United States?  What do I dial?

Thanks again

I have a Nexus 6P.  What changes will I need to make on the phone when I land to use it, if any?

Are there any APN changes required?  Thank you

I hope you have a great trip! Please advise, did we have a chance to speak with you in an effort to provision the Global Services on your account? If so, simply ensure data roaming is enabled:http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-145926/ and the dialing instructions can be found here: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/tripplanner/tripplannercontroller
