What triggers the travel pass for another day if I use Wifi with airplane mode on and use texting  and search does it still trigger another day?

Using WIFI while in airplane mode will not trigger a Travel Pass session. It will only be triggered by an outbound text, outbound (or answered call) or data usage (including background applications)

Airplane mode prevents the trigger.
