I'm curious if you know this from experience or are guessing. If the phone in question is not in airplane mode and the phone actually rings, it has made use of the international cellular provider and that provider MAY bill Verizon in which case the OP would be charged the daily TravelPass fee. If you do not want to incur TravelPass charges inadvertantly, you should have your phone in airplane mode or turned off. Even if your phone rings AND you do not answer it because the phone is not in airplane mode, you still have the possibility some app on the phone would be using data in the background which would ALSO trigger a TravelPass charge. It is best to have the phone in airplane mode to guarantee no TravelPass charges would happen when you don't want them.

Rcschnoor, consider your curiosity ended. I've got answers for you. Our TravelPass feature is activated for 24 hours once you make or receive a phone call, send a text or use data. You do not have to answer the call, because TravelPass doesn't charge by the minute. Here's more information regarding this > http://vz.to/2t1B9zP    check number 7 under TravelPass.

No, your reply does not end my curiosity.

You say "You do not have to answer the call, because TravelPass doesn't charge by the minute", but this reply does not answer whether or not the 24 hour TravelPass period would start with a phone call which made the phone ring, regardless of if the call was answered or not.

You say to see #7 under TravelPass in the faq which is as follows:

When am I charged for TravelPass?

When you arrive in a country covered with TravelPass and turn on your device, you'll receive an international welcome text message text. Your 24-hour access to TravelPass won't begin until you make or receive a phone call, send a text or use data. Shortly before your 24-hour session ends, you'll receive a text letting you know TravelPass is almost up. If you stop using your device before your 24-hour session ends, you won't be charged again until the next time you use your device internationally. That might be later the next day, next month or even next year.

The above faq entry does not say that the 24 hour TravelPass period won't begin until you make or ANSWER a phone call, but simply when you make or RECEIVE a phone call. When your phone RINGS, you are RECEIVING a call. Regardless if you ANSWER that call or not, you still RECEIVED a call.

So my question AND curiosity still stands, IF your phone actually rings when travelling internationally and you choose not to answer because you were screening calls and did not recognize the caller ID #, will your 24 hour TravelPass period begin THEN or, as I suggested you should leave your phone in airplane mode because the above call which you received but did not answer would trigger the 24 hour TravelPass period?????

This is from personal experience. On a recent trip I had calls come in but didn't answer and was not charged for TravelPass with my data disabled and text messaging "rigged" to not allow incoming messages frothis very reason.

TravelPass details explicitly state that a new 24 hour session applies only if "you make or receive a call".

I get what you are saying, but it doesn't work like that. Even on the VZW network for example a call doesn't show up in your call details on the invoice unless it was answered and will then show the call as 1 minute or longer. If it wasn't answered it doesn't show up and doesn't count as having used the network (even though it did technically make use of the towers and switching centers of the carrier's network).

Again, I get what you are saying, but in this instance "receiving a call" is not having the phone merely ring, but actually accepting the call which is how it should be described in the FAQ,  in my opinion.
