Can I use a Verizon MiFi 24/7?

Could I have the device on 24/7. Is it a decent speed? Is it reliable? How would it be for xbox? What's the difference between these two units MiFi 6620L and MIFI MHS291L? Does the 6620L have better performance or is the only difference the longer battery life/color screen? Does the MiFi device shut off if it gets too hot? Does the MiFi device shut off after long amounts of time? If there are multiple devices connected to it at once will it effect the speed at all?

I’ll respond to your questions in the order they were asked.

See John’s post in this thread for more information about 24/7 operation.

Speed and reliability are acceptable with both.

You cannot host a web server! I believe all gaming consoles w/Wi-Fi work. It is likely you’ll find that modern gaming greatly benefits from terrestrial based internet connections like fiber optic based cable and DSL.

You can download the manuals for both and compare. The biggest difference is Novatel Wireless makes the 6620L and Pantech makes the MHS291LVW. The 291L may be more difficult to obtain, whereas the 6620L is readily available. The 6620L may have issues with current firmware, but the 291L should not.

I believe the 291L is the better product. You can search the community for posts about both to learn more. The battery only has to last long enough to find an external power source and you’ll look at the screen a lot when it’s new and rarely afterwards.

I have no information about it turning off on high heat, guessing I would say no!

The 6620L can be set to never shut off, see the 291L manual for it.

Bandwidth is shared among connected devices using the internet.

> Do you know if theres any performance differences between the MiFi 6620L and MIFI MHS291L (such as speed and reliability) Do the MiFi devices have a stable connection or do they cut in/out sometimes?

Again, I’d buy the 291L based on what has been posted in this forum about both.

Mifi is registered trademark of Novatel Wireless.

Pantech makes mobile hotspots, the “MHS” in the model number.

Of course more devices will affect speed. more connections that tare using the same tower ANYWHERE in your are will affect your speed. As far as Xbox I hope you have hundreds or thousands of dollars to spend on data. Maybe if you never download a game or DLC or anything and just play. Even then I'd be leery. You really need REAL internet for XBOX. That would be cable or DSL.
