Can Verizon close my account after a long period of not using a Mi-Fi device?

I purchased a MyFi Jetpack on a pre-pay plan to use on my boat during summers.   I do not plan to use it again until next May or June.

Question #1:  Is it true that Verizon can close my account (unilaterally) and confiscate my unused account balance (without warning) after a period of no usage (like 3 months)?  An agent in a corporation store told me that.

Question #2:  What is the link to the web page that describes the terms and conditions for a pre-pay, data device?

Thanks,

Dave

30 days to use the 10GB and 180 days before you lose whatever balance remains.

Dave, it's our goal to provide you with the wireless service that fits your needs. Which prepaid plan did you subscribe to? Here's a link with more information about our prepaid plans http://vz.to/T2PvGR

Thanks for he response.

I currently am near the end of a $90 month.  I have $20.10 in the escrow account which is not yet applied to buy data.  Later this year, I may apply $15 to the device for a one week package if I need connectivity for a particular church meeting.

Otherwise, I will add another $100 to my account next May while I still have access to a land line. (It is very difficult to move money from my credit card to the escrow account from a Verizon cell phone.)  I then would apply a $90 package to the device the day before I leave for vacation.

My questions:  If I do nothing until next May, will my $20.10 still be there?  Is there a policy for terminating inactive accounts?

Thanks,

Dave

Adding a payment of $100+ will allow your account to remain active for exactly 1 year from the day the payment was made. If you don't make another payment before the 1 year is up, the account would expire and any remaining balance would be lost. Making another payment will keep it active. $15.00 - $29.99 = 1 month $30.00 - $74.99 = 3 months $75.00 - 99.99 = 6 months and $100+ = 1 year. Hope that helps Smiley Happy

HappyHelper,

Thanks for the info.  Does that apply to a pre-pay jetpack?  I know what you said is true for phones.

Also, I am unclear if you mean applying the $100 to the escrow account or to the device.  I can only add a maximum of $90 to the device.  I also know that applying $90 to the device expires in 30 days not 6 months as you suggested.  Try the link in the Verizon tech support reply above.

Thanks,

Dave

Sorry. That was for phones. On a $90 payment for your jetpack it'll expire off the account after 180 days from the payment date.

Hi HappyHelper,

By "expire off the account" do you mean that I have 180 days to use the 10 Gig or do you mean that the account will be closed in 180 days?

Thanks,

Dave
