Can my USB Modem U620L connect to multiple PCs?

Can the MiFi® 4G LTE Global USB Modem U620L be used on several different PC's? I want to use it to download license files and updates to various PC's that presently do not have any internet connections. Or is the modem married to one PC only?

You should be able to use it in a 3G/4G router. The specs in the UG show it has a common chipset which is supported by QMI and NDIS through the WDM.

Multiple.  Usually 5-8 concurrent connections.

Thanks Weth!

Any idea why that number (5-8) is squishy?

Ii apologize, my information is wrong.  I wrongly assumed this was a hotspot device.  The U620L is a USB modem and will only connect 1 computer at a time. You want a hotspot for what you need to do, on gas all the computers you need to update are wifi capable.

I read your post as "Can I use it on different computers?"

You should be able to use it on as many different computers as you want, as long as each computer meets the System Requirements as described on page 2 of the User Guide.

Yes, I can see how my answer is still not as clear as it should be.

You can use this device in the USB port on as many different computers as you like, but just 1 at a time. It is not a wifi hotspot.

Thanks for the replies. I don't think it has to be WIFI capable as my mom uses one on her old PC that never was wifi compatible. I read page 2 and it doesn't say anything about WIFI. I just don't understand how the modem transmits a signal to the PC using the USB port as its transmission path. For my future purposes it will be used on 1 PC at a time, I just didn't know if there was something that recorded the different computers it will be used on and then says that's all folks when it reaches a limit. Guess it doesn't do that.

No, you will be fine.  One PC at a time, turns USB port into network port and transmits just like it was an Ethernet port in effect.  You won't reach a "used in too many PCs limit"

So far the modem is working great! Connected 3 PC's (not at once) so far, with no problem! I can update and register software with ease!  This is a great tool, will also use it with my laptop when I go on the road. I'm glad my company is paying the bill for it. Smiley Happy
