Why can't I log in to my jetpack to change the SSID and password?

No problem getting on-line. Device says to change SSID and PW I should go to http://my.jetpack. No such web page exists, I am told. 192.168.1.1 resolves to http://my.jetpack/cgi/webui.cgi?id=apps_home but that page is also nonexistent.

Easy, it turns out. Yes, I was connected to the 5510L via its WiFi. No, I don't use a VPN. But I do use the Mac OS. Previous generations of Jetpacks and MiFi's had no difficulty talking to Mac web browsers. I had to soil my Mac by booting Windows in order to talk to the 5510L. Problem solved, but it is inexcusable that Verizon made it so that none of the Mac web browsers can talk to this device. Strike 2 against the 5510L: Battery runs down much more quickly than my previous Jetpack.

Which Jetpack? If using a VPN then turn it off and try. No manner what I do, I have to reset my Jetpack on a regular basis. In fact, any time it doesn’t do what it is suppose to do it needs to be reset. Jetpack’s require a bit of maintenance from time to time: remove and reinstall the battery and SIM card to reseat these and lightly polishing the battery terminals on the battery and the Jetpack can help make it continue to work.

This only works if your current computer is connected to the Jetpacks network.  As 7e suggested using a VPN will remove you from your local network and place you on the VPN servers network.  All local resources are not available at that point like the web interface for your Jetpack.  You cannot access this IP address remotely from another network.

http://my.jetpack is a shortcut to the same web interface of your Jetpack as the IP address, just easier to type and remember for some.  If that is what the user guide for your jetpack suggests navigating to then feel free to use that website as a substitute for the IP address technique.

Plus we have to assume that 192.168.1.1 is the actual default gateway for your Jetpack, which it is for the majority of the Jetpack models as far as I am aware.  If you happened to configure a custom subnet or IP for the Jetpack itself then 192.168.1.1 wont do you any good.  Easiest way to confirm what the IP of the Jetpack is would be to open a cmd window and type ipconfig.  There should be a field labled as Default Gateway with the IP of the Jetpack if you are connected to it.

Glad to hear its working!  I would think pushing the Reset button on the Jetpack would have fixed it!
