Why is my Jetpack 6620L powering itself off?

I've had this jetpack for almost 2 years, no real problems. 2 weeks ago it started powering itself off usually after 5 min, sometimes longer. Plugging the power supply in while operating seemed to make it happen more often.

I cleaned the battery and Jetpack battery contacts but didn't help the power off problem. I wasn't quite specific originally about the fact when I plugged in the battery charger the Jetpack turned off completely as opposed to going thru a power up cycle when on battery power. However, magically last week (10-6) a software update showed up which is now 3.0. I downloaded it and haven't had a connection drop (the original symptom) or power up sequence since. Thanks for the advice anyway.

Sounds like the battery or the contacts have gone bad.  If you have access to a 2nd battery you could confirm.  A VZW shop may be able to help you on that one if they still carry your model.

That is confusing.  I'd expect it to work better when plugged in if it were a battery problem.  It might be a bigger problem on the Jetpack itself.  Considering the Jetpack is 2 years old it likely wont be serviced by VZW and is bricked.  I'd check my upgrade options and see if you can get a new model.

Since the 6620L does not work without the battery, any intermittent disruption of electron movement between the battery and the Jetpack can cause the Jetpack to fail. When this occurs, most of the time all you have to do is remove the battery and reinstall it to reseat the contacts. It is not a bad idea to lightly polish the contacts on the battery and the Jetpack for a second or two with a soft material like a shirt tail. While you're at it, remove and reinstall the SIM card to reseat it. Lastly, use the reset button to reset the device once in a while.

Can you tell me where the reset button is/what it looks like? Having similar problems, with none of the above remedies seeming to help. Thanks.
