I have had my Verizon Jetpack 4G Hotspot 890L since either 2011 or 2012 and only accidentally dropped it 3 times during the past couple of years. The third time was just recently and now I am unable to get the jetpack to remain on. Every time I turn it on, it either doesn't come on or shuts back off instantly with/without turning on fully. I've taken the battery out for a few minutes, put it back in, still nothing. I don't know if I just need a new battery or if something has come lose or damaged from dropping it. Only twice was it drop on a hard surface. I have the total protection insurance on it and I have an upgrade available for it. So if I do have to upgrade it (that is if the same device isn't available anymore), which hotspot would work the best without eating up all my data? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
If you dropped it once and it continued to work you should consider yourself fortunate. However, dropping it multiple times increases the likelihood of failure as you have observed. Additionally, Jetpacks do not eat data, at the most they consume <25 MB for a firmware update which is so rare it is insignificant. I recommend the AC791L.

This suggests a problem with the MiFi receiving power from the battery or the USB port.

Check to see if the MiFi can remain powered on while the USB cable is plugged into the wall. If the MiFi does not receive power from the wall then the battery will not be able to charge and would match the description you have provided. USB ports go bad all the time, but the only fix is to replace the Jetpack.
When I have it plugged in, it shows the battery bar charging but doesn't stay on. It actually takes me several times to set it in a certain spot for it to stay on. Every now and then it will cut off and restart over again. It even does the same things when its not plugged in and is fully charged. It looks like I'll just have to go ahead and replace it before it completely stops working on me. I hate for it to do that since i just started two new classes this week and have a ton of homework to do. Thanks for the help.

i finally got a replacement for this device. They sent me the Ellipsis Jetpack 800ML. So far everything is good now and i haven't had any problems with it. Thanks everyone for the help.
