Thanks to this posting.  It was very helpful.  All, please see my posting requesting help with problems with my KIN2 and wifi.  Here is my last posting but if your are getting excessive data charges, please read all postings under this heading.

To the best of my knowledge my router hasn't had much interruption.  My cell phone is sitting next to mycomputer that is also connected wirelessly to the router.  I haven't had any time that I could notice a delay in my connection on mycomputer.  But as you suggested, I got fed-up and moved to a smart phone.  I got the driod 2 with the 150 MB plan for $15 permonth.  I didn't want to spend the extra money but I was getting killed with the data charges on the KIN.  Verizon couldn't explainwhy it was happening but they still charged me for the data that shouldn't be accruing.  They definitely tried to help but at the endof the day, they could find the problem and recommended that I just move

to the unlimited data plan and give them $20 more amonth.

One other thing to note.  Everyone at Verizon, including the person that called me and sold the phone to me, kept telling me thethat if I had any problems

what so ever with the phone I could return it in 30 days.In fact, Brian who helped me on last Friday toldme I had until this Friday

before my 30 day window expired to return the phone in case they  could fix the problem.  But when Icalled them yesterday

to either resolve the problem or I would return the phone they informed me that the hassle free returnwindow is now

14 days and it had expired for me.  The 30 day period was changed this year but they apparently did not inform

anyone at Verizon Wireless except the gentleman that was helping me yesterday.

Chris, sorry no one informed you of the change to a 14-day return policy, but at least you were able to get a different phone anyway. But I'm curious, how did you get the $15 data package that's no longer available? Regardless, be careful with the D2 ... I went through 700MB in one week on Android!

Enjoy your new phone!

Does any one at verizon read these?  I was told by the person who helped me get this phone that once I activated it, the plan would automatically be the $29.99 data plan, so I had to call and make sure that they changed it to the $9.99 plan.  When I activated it, I called to set up the right plan.  The verizon person I talked to said that the $9.99 plan was "grandfathered," and couldn't be given out to anyone at this time.  So, she had to submit some special request that had to be blessed by verizon, and I won't know if it will go through for days.  What gives?  Looks like everyone gets that $9.99 plan by just asking for it.

I would call again and talk to someone else. The $9.99 package is not grandfathered ... it's available to anyone with a feature phone. It sounds like the rep you got was confusing it with the $15/150MB package.

SydneyK is right. They were most likely talking about hte old, grandfathered $15 plan. Also, the rep that told you that you would automatically be signed up for the $30 plan was referring to the old Kin (non m) models, which were a completely separate phone. You will quickly find that not all reps know what they are talking about, and unfortunately, Verizon does not do much about this. I really wish they did better screening for employees, and kept ALL their employees up to date to know all their products, but that is just impossible, especially with such a large company like that. But they really could do better, but again, since it is a large company, unfortunately they think about the big picture most the time, and not the small, isolated cases of poor employees. Cause in general, Verizon customer support is very good, and personally from me and other people i know that have had Verizon and other carriers, Verizon is the best there is in terms of support (and phone service :smileywink:), it is those sporadic bad employees that spoil things.

Time to make things even more confusing!!!

The $9.99 plan is indeed grandfathered... because the $9.99 plan is the 25mb data pack for feature phones. VzW does, however, have a 75MB plan for $10 a month. You probably got a rep who thought you were talking about the old 25mb data plan.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and feedback. The $9.99 plan has been grandfathered for the $10.00 75 Megabyte plan. Adding to what was stated; you can always use the #data (send) feature from your device to check your data usage. If you are needing more than a 75 Megabyte allowance, the $29.99 unlimited data plan would be a good value.

Thanks,
