When my phone is connected to my wifi I can't stream youtube videos. The screen says loading for a few minutes then goes back the the youtube home screen. I can surf the web fine on my wifi but Youtube has never worked on my phone. Javascript is enabled. Please help. Thanks.
The same thing happens to me on my home wifi network, but when I get to work I can view youtube videos just fine using the wifi there. At home I have a plenty strong signal to allow me to watch youtube on my laptop, but the signal is only a couple bars where I usually use my phone. Perhaps it needs a stronger connection tot he wifi network to work with youtube. It's unfortunate.
What type of router are you using?
I am using a netgear router at home. Even when I go close to it for good reception, youtube videos do not load on this phone. However it works on the wireless at my job.
I see. Have you tried turning off the Wifi on the device and trying to view the videos using 3G? This way we are able to determine if the issue is with the Wifi at home or the device.
Please let us know if you are able to view the videos in 3G.
Thank you very much!
Ruger, it's obviously a problem with your home router then. I would suggest to try this: Go into your router settings and find your phone's IP address from the DHCP client list. Mine always has a blank for the name instead of the phone. It should be something like 192.168.2.5.
Now find where you can enable DMZ. Enter your phone's IP and tell the router to enable it. Wait a few seconds and then try your phone. Now this opens up your phone to no protection through WiFi, but who hacks Kin's on wifi?
If that doesn't work then I'm stumped.
BTW, Youtube on my home WiFi works, and I don't use the DMZ. I'm just wondering if some setting in your router is stopping some of the traffic.
Other than youtube, can you surf the web normally? I have read that when the battery gets low, it has a lot of problems with WiFi.
Thanks I'll take a look at the DMZ settings... I remember changing them for something at one point, but don't remember what. It's not a huge deal, I'd just like to see it work for the novelty of it. Other sites work fine.
