KIN 2 HELP

I am upgrading ( I am not sure upgrading is the right word after reading all these posts) from and lG Versa to the KIN 2.

Got it and I have spent 2 days trying to get my contacts uploaded on to the phone.

 Anyone knows how?

Also the blue tooth device does not work. the Kin does not recognize my computer or the other phone which is in discoverable mode.

Any help you can provide will be most appreciated.

Vsited 5 Verizon Stores and no one could help me.

I have no data plan and just love being able to  use WIFI.

Could not download SKYPE onto the phone either.

I thank you in advance.

Regarding Skype:

In a recent Verizon press release (link), Verizon posted a website where you can learn more about using Skype and can view a list of Verizon phones currently compatible with the Skype application:

http://phones.verizonwireless.com/skypemobile/

Unfortunately, at this moment I don't see the Kin Onem and Kin Twom listed as phones compatible with the Skype application

Regarding bluetooth, this is all I can find:

(1) "Bluetooth On / Off - Sharp KIN TWO" (link)

(2a) Kin Twom manual (link)

bluetooth information is on pages 27-28, 44, 88

(2b) Kin Two manual (link)

bluetooth information is on pages 32-33, 54, 113

(3) It's a long shot, but it's possible that maybe your devices require that you know what your Kin Two's MAC address is. Here's how to find it:

- "View MAC Address - Sharp KIN TWO" (link)

(4) "KIN TWO -- How do I enable Bluetooth and pair with a Bluetooth headset? (link)

http://support.vzw.com/swf/sharp_kin_two/simulator.html

To read Verizon's tutorial about using bluetooth on the Kin Two/One, in the left-hand column, click 'Connections' and then click 'Bluetooth'

Regarding wi-fi:

The Kin phones are compatible with router encryption settings [Open, WEP, WPA, WPA2]:

(1) "Setup WiFi Connection - Sharp KIN TWO" (link)

(2) "How do I enable Wi-Fi and connect to a Wi-Fi network?" (link)

(3) "View MAC Address - Sharp KIN TWO" (link)

(4a) Kin Twom manual (link)

wi-fi information is on page 26

(4b) Kin Two manual (link)

wi-fi information is on page 31; also, illustration shows that the Kin Two recognizes WPA2 encryption "WPA2PSK"

neither of these will work with the new Kin TWOm. Verizon PLEASE help us move our contacts over or I will return the phone. I don't want to enter 200 contacts manually!!!!!

I saw your post and had to respond because I too share your frustration.. But unfortunately there's no other way you can import your contacts over but manually recreating them. I've been spending the last two days trying many things on my own as well as recommendations from the Verizon techs, including bringing the phone to the store to have their device to transfer it over. The end result is waste of time. It didn't work and not going to either. The only way the Kin TwoM's contact will work is if they modified to the OS.

That's too bad. It;s going to be a pain..But to be honest, I was under the impression from what I read before I bought it that that was going to be the case...at least officially.

Maybe someone smarter than me can figure a "way" to do it.

The new "m" models of the KIN don't have the integration with FaceBook, Twitter, and Live that (in the original release) allowed you to import contacts from those sources. There never was a way to import contacts from other phones directly, and I seriously doubt that it will be added at this point.

My phone is on order, so I have not actually tried this yet, but if the phones still let you set up email via Microsoft Exchange then check out this link:

http://www.mobilityminded.com/7740/sync-your-google-mail-gmail-contacts-to-the-kin-one-kin-two

If you don't have all of your contacts on Google you can log into your Verizon account and go to the back up assistant page.  Select all and save as a csv file.  You can import that into gmail.

Phone Arena is still claiming this phone has Microsoft Exchange, but who knows maybe they aren't accurate since this phone has changed so much.  If someone could confirm this method that would be great.
