Kin Two Battery Life

Just wondering if this is normal. I just got the Kin two and have to charge it every night. I just text and talk. I have not even used the camera within the past day or the video/ wi fi- nothing. The battery takes 4 hours to charge. Is that normal? should i turn my phone off to charge it? or can i leave it on ?

Yes, it's pretty typical these days to have to charge phones every night, one reason being displays are so much larger than they used to be. And if you use Bluetooth at all, that can be a battery drain. 

You can leave your phone on while charging. I always charge mine overnight and leave it on so I can use the alarm. 

Re: your question about charging time, I wouldn't worry too much about it ... every phone is different. If you experience battery problems in the future, you can take it into a Verizon store and they'll test it for you.

I've had/been using the 2m since christmas day.came out of the box about half charged.i only charged it about 3 times since then.use it for talk/text mostly.the wi fi does drain it a little more,but if i am on it at home i just plug in the phone.havent tried the zune yet,but i am sure it will drain some more that just talking/texting.so far i have no complaints about battery life

I only charge my phone every couple of days...definitely not every night! I don't use it a ton, but it's also not like it's sitting in my purse or pocket all day. Some days might be fairly heavy use, other days, not so much...but I'm charging my phone right now, I think for the first time since Monday at the very latest, and it's now Wednesday.

I have to charge it about once every 3 or 4 days. Depending on how much i use it, it can vary. On days of 'heavy' usage, i have to charge it about every other day.  One thing about the phone: for charging, it does take a while to charge fully (4 hours sounds about right). However, i found that it only takes about an hour to charge 90%. Makes sense..if you know how batteries work, they'll charge logarithmicly. If you're in a hurry, just plug it in, and charge what you can. Its not going to damage the battery if you don't charge it fully occasionally, although i wouldn't make a habit of just charging it halfway. When the battery is new, you should charge and discharge fully for about 3 times, and then after that, it should be fine to charge it freely.

I notice if you leave the WiFi on while you are in a place where you can not connect to any network, the battery will drain real fast (less than a day). Leaving Bluetooth on doesn't seem to do too much damage though.

When missing a signal, the wifi will continuously search for a signal/network. With bluetooth, it does a search when you first turn it on, but it doesn't continuously keep searching. Its only when you push 'scan for devices'. That is why leaving wifi on kills the battery so quickly; most wifi signals are localized, so whenever you leave that network range, it will constantly try to scan for a new one. It is similar to when you have no service; like all phones, it will keep trying to find cell service, which will drain the battery. At school, many of my classes are in basements and places that don't receive a signal, which kills the battery quickly. It is almost comparable to actually talking on the phone, not just 'standing by'. Also, when i'm on road trips, or other times i know i'm going to be without service for a while, i just turn the phone to airplane mode, which turns off the phone's signal searching. It drastically saves the battery.

My battery usually  lasts about 2 days with heavy use and wifi on all the time.  If I keep it off and don't do much talking  and maybe a few text messages then about 3 1/2.  With wifi on at home and and heavy web use, then about 2 3/4 days.  

As for battery charging, I'm not sure how long. I just charge it over night or plug it in in the morning and let it charge. I haven't really paid much attention to how long it charges.

Though I was told by Verizon (though how reliable they have been with knowledge recently, I'm not sure how good this information is.) that you can charge it every day even if it doesn't need to charge or if you need it before it's done charging that it won't hurt the battery. Apparently batteries these days don't carry a memory anymore so you don't have to charge them for 24 hours when you get it, you can charge it or use it until the battery dies etc.

If you think something is up with your battery take it into Verizon and they can check the battery.  The one good thing they are good for is if your battery is bad or even if you think your battery is bad, they will give you a new one. Heck when I had the Intensity II and had bad battery they were ready to give me a new phone all together not just a new battery.  So go in and they can check it out for you.
