I too had the blank screen problem, the backlight no longer worked. I ordered a parts phone off of ebay with a working LCD screen and installed it on my old phone, it's been working for a year now.
My Kin Twom has just done this same thing last night July 17 2013. The screen would go black when i shit the phone open or close, but when I did it again it would be fine. throughout the corse of 2hrs the phone's screen completely stopped working. So now I have a phone that I can use a a paper weight. What can Verizon do regarding replacements because this is a manufacturer defect considering many users have had this problem.
