I have never used a cell phone to use the net. My question is will the twom be able to run msn/live messenger?
My only other need with the WiFi is to use my gmail and hotmail accounts mainly. Thanks for any help before I buy this phone.
Solved! Go to Correct Answer
Yes, the kin Twom can run live messenger. You have two ways of going about it. You can use windows live mobile web to access the messenger program but since I do not have any contacts on messenger, I cant verify if it works but it does load up and after I sign it, it simple tells me I dont have any friends to chat with.
Option 2 is utilizing ebuddy's lite mobile messenger which will imports ALL your chat contacts, from msn, facebook, etc and have them all on one screen to chat with. Its not the fastest in the world, but it works and it suits my needs perfectly. This one I have verified and used several times. You have to open an ebuddy account first and import all your contacts but after that, the phone will pick them up after sign in and you can chat away on your kin!!
This phone will not allow you to run Messenger, any IM client will not be able to run on this. Also, if you want to use the wifi to check your email, please take precaution and turn off 3g so you don't use both Verizon's towers and Your wi-fi or you could end up with a $7000 dollar charge if you use it a lot, like someone else on these forums. Also, when you disable 3g you will not be able to receive/send texts or call.

Note that this only applies if you put your phone in Airplane Mode, which shuts off the cellular radio.
If you block data by calling Verizon, setting up a block through My Verizon, or turning off cellular data through the phone's internal menus, it won't block calls and texts. It may block MMS messages though unless you allow these. Blocking through the phone's internals means you will not receive MMS.
Thank you Daveman and Sydney for the clarifications! Much appreciated.
I'm happy knowing that it will run the mobile messenger as that will cut down on texts if I have the smallest text plan on my line.
