I have a suggestion.

This link has a history of all the Zune Software versions.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zune_Software_version_history

If you google Zune Software <insert version number>, some of the previous versions appear to still be available for download. Here are three I could find. I haven't tested these links.

Zune Software  Version: 3.1.620.0

http://download.cnet.com/Zune-Software/3000-2074_4-202694.html

Zune 64-bit  Version: 4.2.202.0

http://download.cnet.com/Zune-64-bit/3000-2141_4-75179816.html

Zune  Version: 4.7.1404.1

http://zune-software.en.softonic.com/

And I might have found version 4.7

This link makes it sound like you will be presented with a choice of downloading version 4.7 or version 4.8.

I did partially test this link. This website downloads a small file. When you launch that file, then that file will handle downloading the actual file. When I launched the small file, it was preset to install a bunch of junk software. After I unchecked that and proceeded to the next screen, I was presented with another screen that appears to force you to accept an installation of another piece of junk software before you are allowed to proceed with downloading Zune Software.

I just had a live chat with someone from Microsoft (Zune) and they said that Zune no longer supports phones with an operating system lower than Windows 7, which the Kin twom is. I am very disappointed by this. I have many pictures on my phone I'd like to get off and it would take way too long to try and e-mail them to myself.
