We have a CNU email account that has some agreement with GMAIL.
So we can sign into it and get the web browser showing like this
https://mail.google.com/a/cnu.edu/#inbox
So I tried to setup the phone as a gmail account but of course that is not working.
How can I get university email to work on the phone?

hmmm that's weird.
it should work. i have an university of illinois account which uses google apps as well.
and it works on KIN Twom by just typing in the username and password.
make sure u include @domain (im assuming its @cnu.edu?) in the username.
if that doesn't work, try enabling IMAP of your email account. go to Settings then click Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
in the worst case, when u add ur email account, choose IMAP/POP Account instead of Gmail.
good luck.

yes it is weird!
I can sign into the account at the cnu connect page with user name and password and read the emails
It loads a cnu modified google page
I tried to login using a PC based email client and it keeps coming back as unable to authenticate to imap server.
Imap command failed, invalid credentials. Rentering the same working password fails continually.
When you login to the cnu connect site, you use the user name and password.
I assume when using an email client, you use the username@cnu.edu and the same exact password as cnu connect website?
ALSO, I can not even login to this email at a standard gmail web browser site, it comes back the username or password you entered is incorrect.
I did enable imap

http://mail.google.com/support/a/cnu.edu/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=78754
suggest clearing captcha, so when I go there I get this
"Username and password do not match"
when entering the login credentials used to connect at cnu connect.
SO to me there is a programming bug. the username on that site only wants the username with no '@',
so that means to me just the pure user name used to login at cnuconnect.
Google does recognize 'cnu.edu' as it loads the cnu connect logo on the left at that page.
SO what to do now??
