kin ONEm: uploading contacts from backup assistant?

back when the Kin was a full social networking phone with access to a "cloud", you could add all your contacts by exporting them into a spreadsheet from the backup assistant, and then use  your microsoft live account to get them into the phone (or somethign to that effect).  but now that the kin is just a feature phone, it appears you can't any more.

does anyone know how to upload contacts? I think now we have to do them all manually, which stinks. but I'd like to know if there is a way before I do all that work!

Can't you do it through this website?

You can go to a Verizon store since they can transfer contacts from your old phone to your new phone.  But be wary: unfortunately it didn't work from my old Motorola Razr (AT&T) to my Kin ONEm.  Don't know if it's because age of phone, different provider, or that they didn't have the right software for Kin at the Verizon store.  (They didn't carry the Kins in the store yet.)

In the meantime my Kin got re-initialized (lost my personalizations, the few things I already had in there), which was frustrating.

Why does Verizon stay silent on this issue? It's a big one!

:manhappy: this is what u can try. load all of you r contacts onto your sim card and transfer them off of the simcard. if that does not work you may want to speak to a specialist in the store to transfer form your sim card to a vodafone sim card or vzw sim card and that should resolve your issue.

Verizon phones are CDMA and do not take SIM cards. There are a few global phones that do, but the Kin does not have a SIM card slot.

A Verizon store can usually hook up your phone via a cable and transfer contacts, although I've seen a couple posts where that didn't work with the Kin, for whatever reason.

Has anyone tried downloading contacts and their calendar from their old phone to their Kin TwoM using Bitpim ?

This software looks promising...although the lastest update was before Kin released...someone try it and let us know...

I've been using Bitpim with my Voyager since I bought the phone 21 months ago.  It works well.  I like it because I can backup my calendar, memos,  and photos as well as my contacts.  I never tried backup assistant so not sure it can backup up everything with it, or just the contacts.  I've been searching to see if there's any talk of an update with BitPim for the Kin yet but haven't found anything.  I have to wait till Jan 7th to buy the Kin TwoM when my renewal is due, so haven't been able to try Bitpim with the Kin yet, but I doubt it will work until they update Bitpim.   I don't think it's a big deal if I have to manually update my contacts on the Kin, but It's a bummer if I can't transfer all of my calendar info to the Kin since I use the Calendar CONSTANTLY.   It's not a deterrant for me not to get the Kin though, because I really want the WIFI with no dataplan.  I find I use my Itouch with WiFi (no 3G) often to get onto the internet.

I will try the Bitpim after going back home...hopefully it works...
