Nokia G-211M-C ONT Supports Pulse Dialing!

For all those antique rotary phone collectors, the Nokia G-211M-C ONT that Verizon is currently installing (as of 9/2024) for Fios Digital Voice service fully supports pulse dialing.

For those of us still enjoying our classic WE302s, 500s, and Princess models, you can stow away the pulse to tone converters, and dial just like in the old days.  Full receiver pulse feedback sound on the later dialers, too.

Dialing up a number is again an old fashioned joy.  No more waiting for the tone conversion; it dials as fast as your fingers can go.  And there appears to be enough REN on the line to easily support a 302 ringer and several more modern touch tone devices.

If you don’t know if your ONT supports pulse before subscribing, just plug a rotary phone into the Tel 1 jack and dial.  Even if service is not activated (no dial tone), the line is still hot.  If you hear the pulse feedback on the line as you dial, it supports it.

For what it's worth, this is the sole reason we moved our landline service back to Verizon.  They have not forgotten their ancient Bell System roots.   Thanks so much for that, and please don’t ever remove that voice feature from your ONTs.
