One Telephone Number vs Two Telephones.

Not a question, just some clarification to a recently closed topic here in the POTS line forum.

It is not possible to assign a single telephone number to more than one device. It can be assigned to a landline, a mobile phone, but not both.

There are two workarounds for anyone wishing to have calls to the home ring to a mobile phone when, say, the user is out & about.

One option is known as call forwarding. This is the "old school" option where calls to the landline are redirected to another telephone number. The user enables and disables the function as needed. During this time, calls will very likely not ring to the landline at all but simply be redirected to the mobile phone. It is activated with Fios Digital Voice telephone service by pressing "*72" and then following a few steps. It is deactivated by pressing "*73".

The second option is what is known as "Simultaneous Ringing". This is a newer feature that allows calls to a landline to ring two different phones (the landline and a mobile phone) concurrently, thus allowing the user the ability to answer using either device.

Simultaneous Ringing is activated via your "My Verizon" account. It isn't something that is done from the telephone itself.

For anyone who subscribes to Fios Digital Voice, I would strongly suggest downloading & saving a copy of the "Fios Digital Voice user guide".  The guide lists the features available with your FDV service. Albrean_VZ_0-1746129178992.pngAlbrean_VZ_1-1746129178990.png
