Can I manually update lollipop?

Had trouble with my phones battery staying charged since I did lollipop update. Tech support said that I would probably have to wait until the next update comes out. Rumor has it that verizon has released, but when I go to settings and check for update, says it isnt available. When I called tech support this time, they said it was released in waves, didnt know when it would reach my phone. Is there a way I can go ahead and download the newest update? My phone is driving me crazy! Thanks

Current LP version is 5.0.2, that was back in March.  No update since.  If you have serious issues with battery, try this:  Since Lollipop update, S4 randomly shuts down, not reboot, but power off. Have to remove/reinstall b...

Works on LG G2, for which I have and just edited it to fit the S4 in that post.

Here is the short and sweet version.

You might try the Verizon Software Repaid Utility built into the phone and accessible from plugging it into a PC USB port.

Factory Reset

The following process has helped many, maybe you can benefit from this as well.  I know you don't WANT to FDR, but if you haven't already, this might be a NEED to operation.

Back up any photos documents or videos and other media to a PC or cloud service.  Google Accounts will keep your contacts in Gmail and you can use Google Drive to back up everything instead of a PC and the Play Store will remember the apps you have downloaded before.

Plug into charger for the entire process

(DISABLE google backup and restore of apps and app data)

Charge to 100% and back up and factory reset the phone

Factory reset one more time

Unplug from charger

Set up your phone

Leave phone on until it dies and turns off 1 time

Leave off and recharge to 100%

This is my usual process and I have had no issues.

Most important part:

(DISABLE google backup and restore of apps and app data)

The reason is because the runtime process for apps changed from KK to LP.  Restoring data restores incompatible versions of those apps.

If you have done this and cannot update to 5.0.2, or have updated and still see no success then you should have your phone replaced.
