Has anyone had trouble with the screen not staying on. The phone is on but the screen stays black. If I hit the power button it will flash on the off. Problems since the recent upgrade. . Then I also get the 1x instead of the 4g. Any suggestions be

Has anyone had trouble with the screen not staying on.   The phone is on but the screen stays black.  If I hit the power button it will flash on then off.  I have had problems since the recent upgrade. .   Then I also get the 1x instead of the 4g.  Any suggestions before I  visit the store.?  thank you
