What do I have to do to make Wireless Storage work with the Chrome browser in Windows?

The Wireless Storage feature on my LG G2 works fine when I access it with Internet Explorer in Windows. But when I try to access it with Chrome on the same computer it won't connect. Using the same link that works in Internet Explorer, I get the following message from Chrome.

This webpage is not found

No webpage was found for the web address: file://vs980_4g_lte/

Error code: ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND

I tried typing the name in uppercase instead of lowercase, using backslashes instead of forward slashes, and using the IP address instead of the name. The result is always the same. If I type http: instead of file: it still doesn't work, but the error message is different.
