LG G2 isnt reliable since recent update

I've been reading some of the posts in the forum, and it's just shocking to see that Verizon hasn't come up with a meaningful solution besides a factory reset (which should be a last resort).  I read on one of the posts that they tried that 3x and the phone still wasn't working properly!.. When I initially bought this phone it was great, but now the battery life is terrible.  After charging my phone all night, I woke up to it only being at 92% and now its at 55% and its only been two hours, SMH, some of my apps keep force closing, the buttons keep sticking when I press them, and my txt msgs are in pending mode for hours.  I'm very disappointed in this phone I prob. should have stayed with the Iphone.  (-__-)

The real question that someone is going to pose to you will be, did you perform a Factory Data Reset?

These updates don't always cover everything that a user may have installed on a device, and there can be un-initialized memory locations that the new load ends up accessing that causes bizarre behavior. The only way to know for sure is to perform the FDR.

In this case, I don't think this is Verizon's fault, and I think it's a generic problem  with updates... No one tells you that an FDR is manditory, and in the ideal, it isn't.

As for someone claiming they've performed three FDRs as you claim, their only recourse probably is to seek a replacement device. Not ideal, but no amount of additional FDRs is going to fix their issue.

I had to get a replacement.  If the downloaded update installed incorrectly, no FDR will fix.

I performed a factory reset Friday night.  Since then phone was better until today, when I could not get sound for media or touch screen.  After restarting the phone a couple of times, one with leaving it off for several minutes, the sound is now back on.  But when I say "OK Google", nothing happens. When I use the voice command for calls, it doesn't understand what I'm saying til after several tries it finally gives correct feedback.  So this is how it's going to be, with different things going out at different times, but never everything working as we paid for.  I also noticed it dropped WiFi overnight even though I made no changes to that setting.

The Kitkat update just plain sucks. My texting is broken, it will constantly say the text can't be sent, even though it may have been. My GPS is really erratic, and the screen brightness has been dimmer. I have tried one factory reset, but I think I need a replacement phone.

I would avoid the update if I could. Grrr.

Yeah I feel ya, but since I posted this my phone has actually gotten better! My battery isn't draining, its not overheating, my text msg are actually doing wht it's supposed to do and not sitting in pending status all day, and my buttons aren't sticking when I press them anymore 🙂

MasterBlaster, you might try another FDR. But you might also try some things selectively:

1). GPS... Download GPS Status, and from within the program, select Menu | Tools, and Calibrate the Compass and also Pitch and Roll.

2). Screen Brightness.... Go into settings and select: Display Brightness and adjust it. Mine is at 30% and indoors, I can read the screen comfortably.

and this will probably result in some message loss so copy or save what you need:

3). SMS... I'd go into Settings | Applications management, scroll all the way to the right to ALL, then scroll down to messaging, and then Clear Data and Clear cache and reboot.

If these don't help, then personally, I'd probably do another FDR.

I am having the same issues and am thinking I should have stayed with the Iphone as well!  Battery doesn't get a full charge after being plugged in all night, then it only lasts for a few hours, app force close, screen freezes up, etc etc etc.

And I may be a little ignorant in asking this question, but will a Factory Direct Reset wipe out all my pictures and videos from my phone?  I'm not concerned about apps because I can get those back.  But I do not want to lose pics & vids that I have taken since I have had the phone (which, by the way, has been less than a year!!)

Yes, a factory data reset will definitely wipe all of those pictures. But luckily, there is a workaround. Go to the Play Store and download Verizon Cloud. This app will allow you to back up these pics and vids and store them on a remote server, so that once you've wiped your phone, you just download verizon cloud again, and you can pull those pictures and vids back to your phone. You can also back up contacts, messages, and other stuff with this app as well.
