Since the upgrade yesterday my phone is using power at alarming rate. Even when not using phone in 1 hour it used 17% of it's power, I have adjusted power saving methods that I used before. Phone previously went 3 days without charging.
The upgrade also removed one on my apps (navigator) and I can't find "GPS" on my drop down menu, has it been changed to "Location"?
Also my text messaging is messed up. Some of my texts aren't going through for 1 hour.
Very sad, loved this phone prior to upgrades yesterday. Today not so happy.

I've been reading all these posts. Since the update on Saturday my battery drains extremely fast. The updates don't seem to make the phone any better. i was completely happy with the way the phone was previously performing. Yesterday after unplugging the phone with a full charge I received one phone call that went to voice message. I placed the phone on my kitchen counter an left it there all day because I was home with my family and didn't need it. Around 6PM i grabbed my phone an left the house to run an errand. I looked at my phone and saw that the batter was at 6%!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had not used it all day...........What the heck is going on. I really don't want to lose my information by resetting. My son and wife have the same phone and I advised them to decline the update. Verizon needs to figure this out quick and stop with the standard excuses.

SargeDS We only want to provide solution not excuses. We understand the update issue has been frutrating. A reset has been known to help and your information can be backed up and restored. Select settings, backup and reset, factory data reset, reset phone. Contacts can be backed up to backup assitant and/or gmail. Photos and music can also be backed up by using the Verizon Cloud. Please keep us posted.

The reset did not work for me and I did it twice. Wasted all sorts of time.
There is a flaw with the update the flaws will still be there after the reset. My phone still shows bluetooth using 5% battery even though its never been on and there are still data drops and poor handling of WIFI connections. Its all over the internet. The only way of getting a working (properly) G2 is by getting a replacement G2 with Jelly Bean and not upgrading. Or of course by an update to fix the core problem.

Both my wife and I are having similar issues. Losing over 30% of battery overnight when before the kitkat upgrade we would only lose 2-3%.
This new software is awful

The software is fine. Obviously there is something on your phones causing the issue. My phone has been working just fine if the software was buggy it would be affecting everyone. I've gotten as many as 85 hours on my G2 before it got below 15% since I upgraded to KitKat. Explain that?. Try turning off Location. Also you battery stats will tell you EXACTLY which process is causing the issue so a simple check will answer your question.

Why should I have to turn off location when it worked fine on jelly bean
And of course I checked my battery stats and Android system is causing the drain but because I can no longer use better battery stats since the upgrade to determine which specific action within Android system is causing the excessive drain.
I know plenty about the phone and the technology. Something is buggy with the update. I shouldn't have to disable things I was using prior to the update to make my phone work

I know how important it is to have a good battery life joelukes. Please access your Settings>Battery> Battery Information. Review the graph to identify the driver. Allow the phone to fully discharge, then complete a full charge using the wall adapter. Then, try using Battery Saver.

When my phone was in trouble after the upgrade, it would not accept a charge from the wall, only from USB. After doing factory reset, it now charges happily from the wall again.

I installed the new software this morning about 9am, with a full 100% battery- normally I go 3 days on one charge- I sent 15-20 text messages, checked Facebook for about 5 minutes and played 2 round of candy crush. No mobile data on except for the FB time, and not using WIFI- my battery was dead at 245pm.
My phone has been hot off an on all day. I have had to power it down several times. It is taking 10-15 minutes to send a text message- my husband, who has the same phone, was sitting next to me texting away so it wasn't the signal- its this update. It has messed up a perfectly great phone!

I now officially hate my phone. This is apparently a WIDESPREAD issue that Verizon is doing nothing about. My phone is WAY slower. Is lags, the touchscreen sucks now. If I tap a button it "highlights" for a good 3-4 seconds before it does anything. When I try to scroll on a website it brings up the longpress menu. I cant find the navigation app. Why should I have to do a factory reset or change my location settings? When I updated the last time everything worked perfectly. I think this is a perfect time to switch carriers, sucks that I've been with Verizon for over a decade now

I completely understand everyones problems here. I had issues from the time i tried to download the upgrade until now. My only solution was to get a replacement device, for which I immediately charged to 100%, reset, downloaded update OTA WiFi, and reset again. (leaving plugged into AC outlet using factory cable and plug from step one till done) Problems have gone away for me in 3 days. Everything works correctly. Consensus was that the download was at fault and did not install correctly, so no matter how many resets I did, it was only resetting the problem. I needed a fresh install, for which, cannot be done once the firmware is updated. Hope this helps.
