I found the answer to solving most problems from viewing someone else's post. It seems many LG's were packaged with a temporary phone number on the sim card. Your phone will not get updates until this is changed. I went to the Verizon dealer where I bought my phone, and they replaced my sim card, updated with my correct phone number, then ran updates. My problem had been with e-mails. It works great after the updates.
