MMS not working LG G2

I just got my device switched out 3 days ago due to my old phone messing up with MMS. It was working great until yesterday when the exact same problem I was having with my old LG G2 started occurring AGAIN! My picture messaging does not work at all, sending or receiving. When receiving I get a gray box that looks like a broken photo and has a little triangle with an exclamation point in the corner. When sending I get an error message "attachment size limit is exceeded." The picture I am trying to send was taken with the phone itself!!!! I talked with a rep last night and I have done soft resets, hard resets, tried sending a pic with both wifi on and wifi off (data only), I have tried using the Verizon messaging app as well as others a rep reccommended, and still NOTHING WORKS!!! Hell they gave me a brand new SIM card two weeks ago to try to fix the old phone so it can't be that either. I am really getting frustrated with this whole ordeal. The phone wasn't even 6 months old when it messed up and now a brand new one messes up in less than 2 days after receiving it?!?! COME ON!!!! I don't pay my bill each month for a phone that doesn't work! HELP PLEASE!!!

I am having the exact same problem!! I've had the G2 for 12 days, and the same thing is happening to me. It's so frustrating!

Thanks for reaching out to us, crystalynn1212. We are sure it is frustrating to not be able to send MMS from your phone. Let's make sure we get this to work. Are you able to go to the camera and select the settings there in order to change the resolution?
Please let me know how that works.
Once the picture resolution has changed, try to take a picture and send it.

Having the exact same problem! Have only had the phone for a week.  Picture messaging was working fine, and then just decided to stop working.  I can't open attached pics i receive and I cannot attach pics i want to send.

Changing the resolution has no effect on this.  Incoming or outgoing.  I changed the resolution, tried them all, and still file exceeds limit.  I reset to default.  No change. Still cannot send or receive pics by text.

I have been having the same issue until I decided to take matters into my own hands since verizon offered no assistance. What I did to start receiving/ sending mms messages after kitkat update was simple but not simple to figure out! I had to delete every message thread from every app including hangouts and the default messaging app. Then I had to find a reliable cache cleaner in the google play store! I then cleared all cached processes on my lg g2. I then turned my phone off for a short period of time which probably was not necessary a quick restart would probably be fine. I rebooted and went into my messaging apps settings  and enabled mms and sms message auto deleting and changed it to 200 sms per thread and 20 mms per thread! I made sure my messaging apps were completely empty and then successfully sent an mms message to my wife and then sent myself an mms message from her phone! I have since not had any issues but I make sure to keep the amount of messages/ threads very low to avoid the issue! I guess the stupid phone cannot handle more than a couple hundred messages after kitat update! I hope this helped as it worked fine for me but took me some time and alot of frustration to figure out!

I tried this and it worked  ONCE.  LG says I can send my phone in for warranty inspection but what it boils down to is that this/these LG phones have compatibility issues with Kitkat.  It's not a Verizon created issue.  So who handles this? I don't want to send it in for a warranty claim to send me another LG phone that will do the same thing.

Try a replacement SMS/MMS program, maybe Chomp. Or use a different technology like Whatsapp.

I think until they patch KitKat, people on a variety of devices will have Texting/MMS problem.

you are correct FredWB this is not a issue on Verizon's behalf this is a software and system compatibility issue between LG and Android I will say with LG I think the great products but I have found a solution that has worked more often then not for me and others

I do appreciate all of Verizon's help with this issue though

I've had my second Lg g2 for not even a full 24 hours yet and it's back to doing the same thing.  Can't send or receive pictures.  I am trying to do what schwen said to do now.  But I think I am going back in tomorrow and tell them to give me a new phone of equal value that is not an LG g2.  Either Samsung 5s 4s whatever is the latest or I may become an iPhone user, but I detest i products...what to do.  I just want my pictures to work.  I have a grandchild back east that I don't get to see.  I'm about to cry.

@smarys_57,

I can definitely understand how frustrating this has been for you and I apologize.

Let's make sure the settings on the phone are correct. We want to make sure the auto retrieve is checked for picture messages. Go to Messaging> Menu> Settings> Multimedia message> Check Auto-retrieve.

Try this and keep us posted.

Whoever this Verizon rep is must be a slow person! It doesn't matter if it is set to auto-retrieve! The stock messaging app works for mms ver briefly after activation or a full phone wipe and then all of a sudden mms no longer works for any of us! Luckily mis is working with a third party app called Textra but the app is lackluster and very bring to say the least but the good news is that with Textra my mms works seamlessly, with no help from these bonehead verizon reps! Do they even read the whole conversation? Probably not! I hope they don't make more than minimum wage because they have been absolutely no help!

I don't think Verizon thinks this is a serious topic. Not one person at Verizon I have spoken with has a clue it seems. They all say try the same thing. Maybe they all need to get on the same page and fix the software problem.

Dear Verizon, You suck at understanding the problem. You fail at providing useful information. You fail at providing a solution. I think every customer who has this problem should not be paying their bill and be provided compensation for problems with the software. I am really fed up with this after almost 2 months of no images in the messaging app and looking to go to a different provider. You can take your ETF and go rotate. I would love for someone to contact me who can talk on an inelegant level. Currently the level of help compares to that of an IT guy asking if you tried restarting the computer. I am an engineer and I am on the level of I tried everything hardware and software related just short of actually coding new lines now fix the dam software you keyboard jockey!!!

yeah nickw85 no one seems to be able to fix the problem Verizon Wireless Customer Support this is getting ridiculous!! Ive had 3 LG G2 and all 3 have done the same thing! I'm sick of waiting for a fix that obviously doesn't exist. Went on vacation and couldn't even send my family pictures of where I was. Shame. My phone basically sat in my suitcase for a week worthless. Half the time the GPS and internet doesn't work either so it did me no good. I'm going to the store TOMORROW and will either walk out with a different phone completely or I will no longer be a Verizon customer. I'm done with this crap, and to the rep that reads this, please read through all the other "fixes" everyone else including other reps have mentioned...don't suggest those. We have tried them and they don't work. Stop suggesting the same things. Listen to your customers!

Greene I think I already told you the things that have been tried and don't work.  I think I have already stated what tech services had tried and it doesn't work.  I think I have mentioned I am on the second phone and less than 24 hours it doesn't work.  I think I mentioned that I went to the store and they tried quite well for for a long time to figure it out and it didn't work.  They put in a new SIM card, made difference. I think i mentioned that I disabled all google stuff, clear everything, forced stop, disabled and still did not work.  I think I mentioned that I have tried Verizon messaging, whatsapp, hangouts, chomp, pro sms, didn't work.  Textra is the ONLY thing that WORKS.  It has flaws on operation as well.  Looks like you send 3 pics when in fact you only sent one.  So it too really does not work.  Why do see need to keep telling you people that nothing works.  Maybe it's time for class action to get things working.  My dad just bought this phone.  He is 82.  He is on Sprint.  You won't mess with him if it stops working.  Off his is still working after 3 months, you will be losing me.  I have been with you for 13 years.  Stop jacking is around and FIX it.  I even contacted LG, still no response after 2 weeks.  How sad is out that all are going thru the same thing and yet no one will get off their butts to fix it.

Did you fix the problem? If not try the following/

I also was having this problem. The fix for mine was to reset the APN.

I did the following:

1. Settings

2. Tethering and Networks

3. Mobile Network

4. Access point name

5. Hit menu, choose reset to default

6. exit out

7. Try to send a picture message

8. If works great if not restart phone and try to send mms.

Hope it helps.

jessikno, we don't want this picture messaging issue to be a problem for you too. Let's try a few steps to resolve this. First, delete all unwanted text messages on this device to ensure that this isn't a memory capacity issue. Next, power that phone off/on and disable Wi-Fi in the settings of that phone. Test the picture messaging feature again and keep us posted.
