I have had my Revolution for 6 months now and the problems continue. At first I felt it was my being a new user - but now I am wondering about the phone itself. Now that I have read many threads, taken an Android class and called Verizon multiple times I feel I am not the cause of it all any longer. This phone periodically locks up and is only temporarily fixed by removing and reinstalling the battery. Games that required action such as Angry Birds get very jerky in just a few minutes of play, and is not fixed by reinstalling the game app. I have changed all possible settings in order to save the battery, but Visual Voice mail still continually pings itself trying to update when out of area, using battery and annoying me (can't find any setting to stop this). Skype won't play sound thru the speaker on this phone, not fixed by reinstalling Skype. And the list goes on.....sigh....the only help I get from Verizon is to remove the sim card and reinstall which has not helped. And I still was able to text and place calls faster with my old flip phone!

I am not at all familiar with the Revolution, but I will give you what help I can from my experience with my Droid.
As far as resetting. I have had to reset my Droid up to three times in one day. Other times it is fine for weeks at a time. That can be caused by many things. Apps/games for example. Be careful what you download.
If you still have apps running in the background you need to download an "app killer". Now here you will get tons of points of view. Some like them some don't. Some even hate them and say they are not needed. All I can say is from my own experience, after I downloaded mine, it helped my battery problems a bunch. Didn't cure them, but it did help.
I have Advanced Task Killer on my phone. With that you can choose what apps to leave running and which ones not.
I have the Droid Eris and it is very well known to have poor batter life from day one. I did help mine by letting it go dead in the beginning when I got the phone. Do that about three times. Let it go completely dead. No battery at all. That may or may not help. It did for mine. Not much, but some. I still let mine go dead about every month or so. I don't know if it truly helps, but it seems to. I don't know what it does. With those kinds of batteries, there is suppose to not be any "memory charge". But it did help mine.
As far as games. If they run smooth or not will depend on the inner workings of your phone. I know my Eris, even though it is a Droid, it is the low end. And I have to be very choosy on what games I download. It will run a very few. Angry Birds does run but not very well.

The eris is still running android 2.1, which is why you've had some success with Advanced Task Killer.
The Revolution is running android 2.3, where programs such as ATK are harmful, rather than helpful.
Given the problems you've listed, I would try to do a master reset, and, this is important, DO NOT reinstall apps at first. This will rule out any apps you have as a potential cause for issues, and also may resolve buggy configurations/settings/information in the OS itself.
If the problems persist, contact VzW for a warranty replacement. If they don't, one or more of the apps you had previously installed were causing the issue, or some system change caused the issue. Either way, reinstall your apps 1 at a time, if the issue comes back, uninstall the problem app and don't look back. If it doesn't, congrats, problem solved.
I know it takes time, and it's a pain in the butt, but it's the correct, thorough way to troubleshoot and actually resolve your issue. Most people who don't take the time to do this, wind up playing "CLNR Roulette" (CLNR is Certified Like New Replacement, the term VzW uses for their warranty replacements) with customer service until they get fed up or get lucky.
OK, I have very few apps on this phone so that won't be too bad. Most have already been replaced numerous times but I will try to wait in between reinstalling and observing. Hey, it works with food allergies.......
Isn't a master reset consist of removing the battery, and the sim card, then reinstalling? I do that almost weekly.

A master reset is wiping the phone back to factory settings, and deleting all user data (nothing on the SD card is affected). Basically, it resets your phone to a fresh-from-the-box software installation. It can be done from settings. MAKE SURE you back everything and anything up to your SD card first!
OUCH! That can be daunting to a new user....so many settings that I cannot recall. But it's worth a shot...........
