Dear VZW Reps, please read what I write before responding.
Last Thursday, I updated my phone to ZV9, and when the install completed, my phone would not boot. At all. It went to the LG boot screen and stayed there. It even did this is I pulled battery and plugged it in - it wouldn't even go to the charging screen. Sounds like my OS is messed up, right? I spent ALL DAY Friday visiting two stores and calling tech support for HOURS. The tech support wanted to send me a new phone under warranty, but couldn't because my digitizer (screen) is cracked. It works perfectly, but it's cracked. I even offered to replace the screen before sending it in for the warranty. They denied, said I'd be charged for the phone. One of the tech support reps even had the nerve to say I needed to take responsibility because my screen is cracked - so I told him he needed to take responsibility for pushing a software update to my phone that made it not work, but he refused responsibility and said LG pushed the update, not VZW. The Software Update screen had Verizon Wireless on it, not LG's name. Regardless, if it was LG that pushed the software, VZW should take responsibility for letting LG push software over MY VZW DATA NETWORK to my phone, which broke it. Anyway, after hours of Googling, because Tech Support was useless, I managed to get my phone alive again (ZV7). However, since then, my phone won't hold 4g connection, and yes, I'm in a 4g area, and frequently drops 3g. I also couldn't update my phone, the software update kept saying "No Update Available" - which isn't true I know ZV9 is out. I realized this has something to do with VZW not recognizing my device - when I go into MyVerizon, it says "Non-VZW device." So common sense would say the network and my device aren't communicating correctly. I called tech support again, and after WALKING THEM thru troubleshooting my phone, they realized the MEID/IMEI number is incorrect in the system, and sent out a new SIM Card. I went to the VZW store last night to switch my plan to the Share Everything, and they noticed the SIM card on order, so they just gave me a new one. This didn't fix the problem, in fact I can't get data AT ALL now. Before it was spotty, but it was there. Now I can't get data at all. Last night, they said they could try to deactivate and reactivate device, but didn't because they were about to close. I've tried Master Reset, reflashing ZV7 thru LG tools (yes, this is possible to do on a nonrooted phone), reinstalling SIM card, nothing. So I suspended service on my line thru MyVerizon online, and reactivated by entering in my IMEI number. Still, no data connection thru the mobile network. Yes, mobile data is enabled, all settings are correct on my phone. When I go into "Status." under "MEID/IMEI Number," it just says 0. Is there any way that a VZW rep can help me? I'm not one of the people that is complaining because my phone won't work and it's a simple thing. I've obviously done a great deal of troubleshooting and attempted to resolve this on my own. Also, remember, I can't be warrantied a new phone because my screen is cracked, even tho I have offered to buy a new digitizer and send it in with my phone when warrantied, offered to fix it before sending it in, all offers were refused by Tech Support, said I would be charged by the warehouse when they received my phone. I have an upgrade on the account I could use - not using it right now so please don't offer it as a solution. Thank you for your time, I hope we can fix it.
After messing with my phone for hours, I am back to having data connection. However, still no 4g, only spotty 3g. Still "Non-VZW Device" in MyVerizon Mobile and full website.
EDIT: After messing with my phone for more hours, and putting ZV8 on via LG Tools, MyVerizon is showing that I have an LG Revolution. However, my "MEID/IMEI Number" in "Status" still says 0, and I still have no 4g connection.
If you are expecting a VZW rep, you might be waiting a while. This is a peer to peer forum where customers assist other customers.
As for your issue, it looks you have gone through several troubleshooting steps. The biggest issue I can see is the phone or the SIM card aren't recognizing each other.
Also they will not replace the phone with a cracked screen even if you replace the screen. Both situations equal a voided warranty.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
There is no way a vzw rep can help you. they are not trained that indepth and arent really "techs"
Phone cant work = replace. can't replace = too bad so sad
You can try to send your phone off to LG they will flash the software and send it back usually unless they determine the cracked screen caused the problem, which in this case i doubt it did
