Missy, if you haven't experienced the issue, then you can't understand how frustrating it is. Text messages are so hit-or-miss on my LG Revolution, and it is so aggravating to never know if one of my messages made it through or not, and not know if I am missing messages people are trying to send me. I have also had misunderstandings caused by messages arriving to recipients DAYS after I have sent them, on the occasions they do actually arrive. This is an ongoing, widespread issue that has continued for an inexcusable amount of time. There are no updates currently that fix this, it is not an issue with a third party app, and factory resetting the phone is not the answer. I do see this as a failure on Verizon's part - not only have they done nothing to resolve this for a long time now, but I can only imagine the countless people they have put through the additional hassle of having to wipe all data off their phone and start from scratch, only to have it not improve the problem whatsoever. I like a lot of things about Verizon, and I am not here to rip on them, but this is a problem I would like to see addressed, and the more people talk about it, the more likely I hope they are to pay attention to this issue and do something about it. I find it almost humorous how people continue to post that they have tried factory resetting and updating the phone, and yet the only solution Verizon continues to post here is to try those steps. Guys - THAT DOESN"T WORK. Can you please get that through your heads and give us a different solution to try? And one other thing - this is not the early 1900s, we are not bound to landlines in our homes and offices, texting is a feature that has worked flawlessly for me since I got my first Verizon phone (that Nokia that everyone had), and today it is a common method of communication that is perfectly reasonable to expect to work as it should. The solution is not for me to somehow try to make everyone in the world that may try to send me an important message via text aware that I prefer to live in a different millennium. The solution is for Verizon to stop pulling the same tricks out of the lazy support technician's grab bag and provide a software update that actually fixes this bug.

I have the same phone, same issue, same horrible customer service. I don't even know why I pay for a text messaging plan that doesn't even work. It is absolutely awful.

I recently began to have the same problem, but only after having 2 Revolutions...According to Verizon , this is a malfunction with LG and their updating software...They should correct it in a month or so...We will see.

I have the same phone, same problem. There's an app that "catches" all of your missed text messages. It's called "ghostly sms" it really works. Since I've had it, it's caught 65 missed text messages. Who knows if it catches all of them, but it obviously works to some degree, better than nothing!

I didn't see any answers to this problem. I've been having this problem for about a year since I've had the phone. It has gotten worse the past two weeks. I've gotten almost no text messages(SMS) and picture messages (MMS) even longer. I can't wait until June to upgrade this piece of **** phone.

Hi there amberj32!
Rats! All these text messaging issues sure seem to have presented a problem. But good news here is it's nothing we can't work together on fixing and we shouldn't have to worry about a new device just yet. So, let's go full speed ahead because this has been going on for far too long.
First, is your text messaging the only issue that's really present on your phone? Do you use a third party messaging app? Are text messages just delayed or do they not send/receive at all? And what's your zip code? In the meantime, I've still got a few things you can try. The first is to start by deleting old threads of messages. That will clear some room up for flawless messaging. Another thing I would recommend if using the stock app is to go to settings > applications > manage applications > all > messaging > clear cache, data and force close. I'll keep my eye out for your reply!

I'm having this problem also. It's been going on since I got my Revolution, but it seems to have gotten much worse in the last few weeks. It's not just text messages that I'm not getting either. I have had at least 3 people (confirmed by their call logs) that have attempted to contact me and my phone doesn't ring or register the call at all. I also have the issue with getting texts days later but I'm still definitely not receiving all of them. I've freed up space in my messages and that doesn't help. I do have a few apps on my phone, but the problem started before I downloaded anything, and I haven't downloaded anything new in the recent weeks that the issue has become worse.
I do have to say that it is VERY frustrating, especially since I do not have a land line phone. My cell phone is my primary way of communicating with my family several hundred miles away, my friends close by, and coworkers all over the country. I have been with Verizon for over ten years and I have two phones. I have to say that over the last few years I have certainly not been impressed by my service, my bill, and/or several of the changes they have made. I travel quite frequently and I have stayed with Verizon because of their extensive coverage area, but that large coverage area doesn't mean anything if the service isn't working. One of my contracts has been up for a while now. To be honest, I'm in no rush to renew it and have been weighing my options with other carriers. And much like the previous post stated, I'm not trying to put Verizon down and say they are terrible. I know that all carriers have their issues. But I have to say that Verizon used to be amazing and I didn't mind paying a bit extra for service I could count on. That has changed in the last few years and I am very disappointed.

I've dealt with this problem since I got the Revolution in November of 2011. I've performed factory resets... I've tried other sms apps... I've gone back to the stock messaging... NOTHING fixes the problem. This phone just does not receive messages over a certain number of characters. Even better is when they show up as "1 of 2" or "1 of 3" but the rest of the message never follows. I'm at the point where I'm just buying my time until I can upgrade and get a new phone. In the mean time I bad mouth this LG phone constantly.
I don't blame Verizon, I blame LG. I am, however, frustrated that I can find so many threads about the text problem dating back more than a year and yet there is still no fix or resolution? That is a failure of Verizon's in customer support in my opinion.
(The phone also has reset problems. Besides just randomly restarting on its own, it will also reset in the middle of me entering my password to unlock the phone. Biggest piece of garbage I've ever owned.)

Lots of problems with your phone that we need to address immediately WIsconnie. If you are having issues with the messaging and power cycling, the phone may need to be replaced. How long have you had your device? Is the phone damaged? Have you removed all your problematic applications? Let's start here and we can try to determine what's causing the issue. I look forward to hearing from you.

I have also been having issues with text messaging in the last four months. I have had this phone since January of 2012, and it worked great for the first year. I have had problems with it resetting in the middle of using applications or while talking on the phone sometimes since January of 2013. The worst has been the text messaging. From what I can tell, all of mine to other people are going through fine, but on my end I haven't been receiving random messages. I have been to a Verizon store twice about this; the first time they told me to restart it and take the battery out occasionally, which doesn't work, and the second time they gave me a new SIM card. This worked for about three weeks but the problem has been starting up again in the past week or so. I cleared out my cache and data on text messaging, and eliminated long threads. After seeing that people have factory-rebooted and it still doesn't work, I am wary of trying this option. Is there no other fix? It seems ridiculous that in an age where texting is a major form of communication that I have to constantly check to see if I'm missing something or seem as though I'm ignoring those trying to contact me.

Kaymo820, thanks for adding to the conversation. I use text messaging as a major means of communication as well so I understand how this would be frustrating. I'm showing that a previous software update in April was supposed to correct this issue. Can you let me know which software and baseband version you have in Settings, About phone, Software information?
Thanks,

I have had the same issue with my phone (HTC Thunderbolt) and my daughters phone (iPhone 4s) for about a month or so now. A week and a half ago went into my local Verizon store, nothing happened so he dialed Tech support, they did a few things, then said they would call in 2 days which would be 08/16. They did call, asked if I still had issues with the texting, I said yes. Then they said they would look into and get back to me. WELL I haven't heard from anyone since 08/16 and I am still experiencing this issues. I have people messaging me from Verizon, Sprint & AT&T networks and I am not receiving theirs and they are not receiving mine. However, networks other than Verizon, aren't having issues with other networks. I have been a customer of Verizon's since 1990 or 1993 (started as GTE Mobilenet and then merged to Verizon) and am seriously considering jumping ship because of non-responsiveness from Verizon as well as the idiotic not being able to have your unlimited data plan if you upgrade (take a lesson from AT&T, they let their long time customers keep their unlimited data when they upgrade. My friend upgrade to 3 new iPhone 5's and didn't even have to ask, AT&T said they would have unlimited data since t hey were grandfather in.) I've asked on Verizon's Facebook page about this text issues as well as on the twitter account @VZWSupport with no response at all. It doesn't make a difference if I use a 3rd party app for texting or the one that came with my Thunderbolt, the same thing happens. Same with my daughters iPhone.
Is Verizon ever going to look into fixing this issues once and for all???

Pastinky1, first I just want to apologize that you haven't received a response from us via Facebook or Twitter. We receive a ton of posts and respond to them in the order they arrive. When you called in on 8/16, did tech support advise they were submitting a resolution ticket? Is this happening with all text messages from other carriers or just randomly? Do the other users receive any kind of error message?

Hi Marquia,
The Verizon store called a number which they said was Tech Support but it ended up not being them so I had to go through the whole ordeal again, then they said they were creating a trouble ticket and said they would send me to tech support who asked their questions, had me do a few things and that was it. Tech support never mentioned a resolution ticket. But apparently it's all still open as I stopped into the local Verizon store again on Sunday 09/01/13 and the tech support person, Chuck, said that even though I had given them tons of information it didn't show a lot of detail in the trouble ticket. So we went through everything again, what I did, what Verizon did, etc. And Chuck said with the holiday he would probably not hear anything until today but he is out today and would call me on Wed 09/04/13.
As far as how often this happens, it's random, I sent a text message to a friend who is on Verizon on Saturday, no response, 10 minutes later sent another and she got that one but had not received the original. She went me 2 texts, or what I thought was 2 texts afterwards, I sent 2 back but after talking to Chuck on 09/01, he had me power my phone off, he did some sort of refresh again, I turned it on and a 3rd text came through from my friend still dated 08/31/13. Strange, huh? On Friday 08/30 a friend who is on AT&T sent me a text that I never received. My daughter has sent text messages to people on Verizon and AT&T and they are intermittent as well on receiving and sending.
This is getting to be a real issues as my daughter is an athletic training student and all students are required to be able to contact the instructor and other students via texting and if she can't rely on her phone she could be graded down. If this can't get resolved I will have to take my long term business else where.
Thank you,
Patricia

Just connected with you and will send cell phone number.
Chuck did call yesterday and asked if I was still experiencing problems, I said yes and then he said he needed to escalate it. So far haven't heard anything back. Both my phone (HTC Thunderbolt) and my daughters phone (iPhone 4s) are still experiencing problems. However, it seems her phone is now experiencing more problems. She no longer has her original iPhone 4s but a refurb that was sent by Verizon in I believe May or June of this year (I could be wrong on the month) as there were issues back then with a button sticking continuously. Her phone will no longer let her send text messages or receive them, she cannot delete pictures, she cannot take screen shots, etc. Between this now happening and the issue of not knowing if someone received her texts or if she received their's is getting ridiculous! She is an athletic training student and it required an imperative that she be able to send and receive texts from her instructor and the assistants as well as other students in the program. Now is is totally incapable of contacting anyone other then via phone and when you're in class or you are treating an athlete you cannot be answering your phone. And there is no way I am going to pay the $200 for the insurance to get her another phone as I can go to another carrier and get a brand new phone for that price. So with all these issues something needs to be done and done fast! I have been a customer of Verizon since the beginning of time and I am just totally fed up with everything at this point.
Regards,
Patricia

While you are checking my tech support tag can you tell me what the early termination fee would be for the 2 numbers that are still under contract?
Thank you!

Have had all of the issues noted above since I purchased this phone. I would never recommend even though the Verizon sales associate recommended to me...the problems with incomplete texts or inability to download pictures has gotten worse recently. The battery life had been horrible and the phone gets hot when charging, which is concerning. It is VERY frustrating and I have to say I am frustrated not only with LG, but with Verizon for not being able to offer a solution to this problem with a phone they recommended and sold to me. I have taken all steps to include replacing batteries, etc, Verizon just doesn't have an answer to the many problems this phone has and should have offered a replacement since there are so many complaints.
