I received a notice for a system update yesterday and the process starts, but when it reaches 3% it stops and an error screen comes up. Currently running VS980204A OS Version 4.4.2.
Any ideas as to what the issue might be?

I cant say for sure what may have happened during the OTA download. Make sure battery is near full charge. Try again. If this fails try going to settings-app manager-all-system updates. Clear the cache and data. Do the same for Downloads in app manager. Reboot. This might help restart the download properly. If not, a factory reset is next. If the FDR doesn't work, you'll need to call Verizon.

Snn5 - I tried everything you suggested on my LG G2 (which is why I posted this question in the LG G2 forum - for VZW purposes) and it still fails. It downloads the update and the install start, but it fails at 3% during update 1 of 2 and then the following error appears: Err: 0x1111004 and the phone reboots and tells me system update was unsuccessful.

Assuming your phone is not rooted, it may be time to replace through warranty. I searched for that code and did find info, but VZW won't let me pass along that info.

The phone has not been rooted, only has a few apps installed (most carried over from my spectrum) and I have only had it about four months. VZW support tells me they can't find that error code and want me to do a factory reset.

Give the FDR a shot and if that fails contact VZW via Chat, Phone or Store. I avoid stores as they usually don't have any type of tech there that can repair in house or right then. They usually have to send you home with a sheet of paper saying your replacement is on the way. The chat service is usually pretty nice and straight forward and the phone method takes a while and you'll end up FDR anyway, plus you have to use another phone and wait and wait depending on the time of day. Best method: Contact Us | Verizon Wireless choose chat, then choose "help with my device" make sure you log into your account first. Works fine on Chrome and Internet Explorer.

Refer to my previous posts in this thread. Its time to have the talk. You could have your replacement by wed. Too late to ship overnight today.

I was on chat with them before posting the message and they noted a replacement may be necessary, but asked me to contact LG support first. I really don't want a refurbished phone as this one has been absolutely perfect until this issue.

Usually the refurbs are reflashed phones that had software issues. Rarely are they completely trashed phones that VZW or LG spent tons of money repairing. Also, the turnaround for LG is quite long and I was told I'd have to pay shipping to them. They would pay shipping back. So, it's up to you if you want the 2-3 week downtime plus the cost of a box, label, insurance and whatever else like tracking confirmation etc... Again, I recommend going the refurb route. Everyone states they don't want a refurb cause they bought a new phone, but after they fix your phone it will then have become a refurbished phone itself.

I actually had this issue when we went from JB to KK initially. I'm talking about...messed up install and apps and the whole thing. Had to get a replacement. I generally have found updates to really hurt experience. Not the updates themselves, just the process of downloading and installing.

At this point I imagine the recovery partition is corrupt. VZW should issue a replacement. Contact them via another phone or chat online. You can also go to a store, but I have never done so and walked out with a replacement. Stores dont generally have refurbs and they surely wont give you a new one.

Mobile data downloads for OTA kill data and wifi is no different. Point is, is that if VZW would allow the LG PC to Phone software to work then the download could be better implemented through checksum data and controlled installation rather than a spotty OTA download and a largely increased risk of error.

GaryB62,
This is something we can absolutely help you with! Which make/model phone do you have? Sometimes a new SIM card, provided for free by our Direct Stores http://bit.ly/3SdsA , will fix this issue quickly.

Please explain how the SIM could be at fault. I suppose it an idea to try. I'd imagine the OP has an LG G2.....considering which forum its in.
