I have reset the phone and this still happens.
The phone rings.
I can swipe to answer but screen goes black.
I can carry on conversation but I am unable to end the call or get the display back.
I have to hold the power button until I see it has restarted.
All seems well until the next call.
Any advice? Thanks

By reset you mean factory reset?
Not reset as in pull the battery and reboot?
If you truly did a factory reset and the issue is still occurring take the device into a store could be a hard ware defect.
If you don't know if you did a factory reset, it will be in settings backup data and reset factory data reset and follow the prompts.

Thanks for that information, rtouart. We don't want this to affect your trip. Do you have a case on the phone? If so, do you mind removing it to see if the case may be blocking the proximity sensor?
We also want to make sure your G2 has the most current software
click >>>apps>>> settings>>> about phone>>> software update>>> check new.
If the software is current, please try to answer the phone when it is in Safe Mode http://vz.to/M5C23B
