Why won't my device wake up after the update?

my G2 was working perfectly until this update.  I cannot get it to reboot. wont go past the logo. reboot menu does not appear.

It appears you might need to factory reset.  All data will be lost.  However, if you cannot get past the LG boot screen, you cannot get into the phone to back up anything.
