screen issues during calls

How can I get my screen to show the end call function during a call. It's like my phone won't recognize the call I'm on - it's just opens the dialpad and invites me to make another call. Any numbers that I enter will not relate to the current call so I can't get to my voicemail or work through an automated phone service.
I saw someone else with this question but couldn't find it again after I logged in.

JulesMart lets get your device running smoothly again! Fill us in on the details and we'll find a fix! Does this happen with every call or intermittently? Has there been any changes to the phone since experiencing this issue such as new apps or software update?

This is happening to me. Just got the 1 3G issue fixed I hope but I have been to verizon 4x's in the last year for issues with LG G2. Sending text MMS, voice issues and not screen going black during calls.

Hmm, let's see what else can be done. Do you only have this issue while on calls?
Thank you,

That's very odd! Let's try powering down the device then back on and retest.

Your efforts are greatly appreciated Wendy867! We'll get this figured out. Are you connected to wi-fi when you attempt to send the MMS? Are you able to access the browser? Current zip code?
Thanks,
