How do I fix the issues with my device?

This phone was great when I got it about 5 months ago. Since then, it has began to him down hill. The text message app was the first thing that started to get annoying. It started to get really slow and it makes it really hard even to send a 1 word message. Defeats the purpose of convenience. And now, this dumb lolipop update... My phone keeps freezing randomly and after a few minutes, it reboots. I am sick and tired of tired of the trouble this phone has caused me. I thought the iPhone was bad.. THere are some great things about this phone, but not enough to make me feel like the phone was worth the price I paid up front plus what I pay each month. And if Verizon thinks this is going to make me purchase the g4, they are wrong. I am considering switching carriers becaue this is getting ridiculous. I am giving my money to Verizon to make updates that just make things worse. Verizon Wireless Admin Verizon Wireless Customer Support

Plug into charger for the entire process

Charge to 100% and back up and factory reset the G2

(DISABLE google backup and restore of apps and app data)

Install update

Factory reset one more time

Unplug from charger

Set up your phone

Leave G2 on until it dies and turns off 1 time

Leave off and recharge to 100%

This is my usual process and I have had no issues.

The reasons for disabling app data is due to the fact that DAVLIK is now ART and the Android Optimization process might not go as planned if you just slap 5.0.2 over the old 4.4.2.  Also, when you go back to the Play Store to download apps, they will be the correct version this time for this OS.  Also, if contacts will not sync correctly, check your ICE contacts (might have to delete those)...sometimes they prevent a proper sync.

yes Verizon is deliberately making your LG G3 bad so you will buy a LG G4. Do you actually believe that? Seriously as grown person you believe that? Good luck at your new carrier

Be careful, I have heard that some providers push out that "downhill phone patch" after only 4 months.

My G2 was stellar, and after the 5.0.2 update, even more so.

My G3 was good before the update. After the update, the performance suffered so I did a factory reset without having the app settings saved so that any conflicts wouldn't be automatically reinstalled.

It now works as good as it did(possibly better) before the update.Smiley Happy

do you have any suggestions? The issues I have been having with the phone have been going on for so long that I don't know what to do. Do you agree that the factory reset can help?

I followed your steps and my update experience was a good one. Might I also suggest, when re-installing apps, do so one at a time. That way you can watch for any app that may want to act up and you will know right away which one it is.
