I just checked my phone and saw that it's ready for the 5.1.1 update. I'll pass for now. And that's only because it looks a whole lot like the G3 will get Marshmallow (6.0).

It's rare that LG releases an update, and then a month later another update, especially to a new OS. Plus, you have Verizon in there holding it up. I would probably take 5.1.1 on my G2 if it came, mainly because it's time to FDR again. (You know I'm OCD about FDRs.) Still, yes the G3 is getting M, doubtful the G2 will, but might get surprised.

I bit the bullet and installed the 5.1.1 update and so far so good. The voice or call quality wasn't affected. I can still hear and be heard clearly. The battery life looks like it's better. I'll keep poking around in my phone and see what else, good, bad, or indifferent i find with this latest update.

I'm betting it's just big fixes, nothing major.

If it fixes battery life then I am good with it. I have not gotten good battery life since the last version of KitKat.
I was poking around my phone last night after doing that of which we cannot speak and finally decided to go to the most recent update and forget all of that stuff. Well....I was pleasantly surprised when I looked at the software version and saw VS98535B and looked at the top and saw 5.1.1.
We will see how it goes. Since I am pretty much at factory right now I am updating all of the preinstalled apps and thought it is working HARD it is not getting hot. Fingers crossed.

It seems a little snappier but I haven't really seen a difference in battery life one way or the other.
