LG-G3 with Android v5.0.1 and WiFi Connectivity

I have had the same problems many have reported here with the hit and miss connectivity to WiFi, with it failing with the message indicating the WiFi has no connection to the internet, when in fact it does.

Since I changed one of my home APs to have the DHCP respond with Google's own 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 DNS server addresses, the problem has gone away and working fine..   It now even works through my ATT UVerse router/Wireless AP which has the DNS addresses hard coded to ATT own DNS Servers.

I have read that AT&T's UVerse land line internet requires the Gateway DHCP to respond with  their own 99.99.99.53 and 99.99.99.153 DNS Service for some functions to initiate  and why it's hard coded in the modems, but that is a fixed point to point service..

What were they thinking in Android v5.0.1????

It seems that Google missed those VZW customers that use AT&T as their ISP just like they missed those VZW customers that use Comcast as their ISP.

If that's the case then Google should come out with an update like they did for Comcast users.

Ok. So here's the problem. My device is able to connect to the wifi but I get no internet. This is at my work. My laptop works on the wifi but not my phone. My work uses Comcast. What can I do?

The update 24B is for VZW customers that have Comcast as their ISP.

I am on 24B. I have no issues at home where I have Comcast. I get on the network and have connection. It is at work where we have Comcast. I can connect to the network but I get no internet. It is weird. I know that there is internet through the Wi-Fi because my laptop gets it and others (iPhones) get on. Just not my phone.

It's not really a HUGE concern. I have plenty of data. In my office I am next to a window and get good coverage it is just in the middle of the building I get nothing but I can connect to the Xfinity hotspot. It's just odd that on KitKat I was able to get on no problem and before 24B intermittent issues but now, nothing.

sprmankalel, I can see how that would get annoying, especially when walking around the office too. You mentioned that you were attempting to connect to your works Comcast WiFi hotspot.

Are you using your G3's WiFi connection set up under Settings, or the Xfinity WiFi Connect application? If you are using the G3's WiFi software, please try using

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.comcast.hsf&hl=en

to see if it makes a difference with your connection at work.

Please keep us all posted!

I am not trying to connect to the Xfinity Hotspot but I can with no issue. It is the Wi-Fi at the office that is the issue which happens to be Comcast.

What would be really awesome is a way to find the LG G3 Software Version History.
