Why is the paperclip icon missing in Messages+?

I prefer messaging in 'Message+' (red box icon) because the Drive Move feature is useful in my car. However when composing a text message (manually) there is no paperclip icon to attach a file. The paperclip icon is there and works normally through the regular 'Message' (yellow box icon).
